POETRY. Boy*’ Right*. I wonder now if any one In this broad land has heard. In favor of down-trodden boys One solitary word? We hear enough of “woman’* rights," And “right* ng men," Of “equal rights" and “nation * right*," But pray just tell us when Boys’ rights were ever spoken of ? Why we're become so used To being snubbed by every one, And alighted and abused, That \^>en one ia polite to us, We open wide our eyes. And stretch thetp in astonishment To nearly twice their sire ! Jlny s seldom dare to a‘k tlielr friends To venture In the house ; It don’t come natural at all To creep round like a mouse. And if we should forget ourselves And make a little noise ! Then ma or auntie sure would say, ‘•Ob my! those dreadful boys.” Tito girls l»ang on the piano In |>earo, but If the boys Attempt a tune with the fife and drum, “It’s "Stop that horrid noise !" “That horrid noise!” Just think of it! When sister never fails To make a noise three times a* had With everlasting “scales." Insulted thus, we lose no time In beating a retreat; Ho off we go to romp and tear, And scamper In the st reet. j No wonder that so many boys Such wicked men become; ’Twcre better far to let them hsvc Their games and plays at home. Perhaps that text the preacher quotes Sometimes—"Train up a child" Means only train the little girls, And let the boy* run wild. But pat ience, and the time shall come When we shall all he men ; And when it does, 1 rather think Wrongs will be right then. : JIISl Kl.l.ANEUVS. — Tho Dill to Repeal the Bankrupt Law Pamed by the Senate. They ain’t ao useful to catch rats as a cat. but they will pul! the hark off of grandfather’s pear trie, and lie got mad, and kicked th# M tiffin out of him, and skua him. Babbits’ears is long, so you can pick em up easy. A rabbit often 1;“3 red eves, but if a girl had red eyes she’d look bad, you bet. Me and another boy done up some boss radish in a cabbage leaf, and gave it to Mr. llaekett's rabbit to eat, and lie jumped over a clothes line and run into the kitchen and upset a bucket of syrup all over his hair, and he vya* a sick-lookin’ rabbit, and don’t jou forget it, I'd rut her be a dog than a rabbit. ” In Hartford*, Conn., a woman receives twenty-five cents per dozen for making corsets, and the cotton thread, which must be bought of the corset manufacturer, is deducted from this sum.
