Died.
Mrs. Adeline Rhodes, wife of Mr.
John Rhodes, died at her residence, in
this county, on Sunday night last, after
a painful illness of two weeks; aged
about 45 years. Mrs. Rhodes was a
noble, generous Christian lady, in whose
heart was no guile, ever sympathizing
with the suffering and ready to help the
needy. In her circle there is a vacancy
hard to.fill, and in tbe hearts of all who
knew her .there is mourning. Our sym-t
pathies are with the bereaved relatives
and friends.

A Good Work—Help It.
For many years the cemetery of our
village has been—not as it should lie,
one of its greatest beauties, but one of
its most painful eyesores. Unenclosed,
the spot where our dead are buried lias
long been a flace where people who
come to church stop tlieir carriages and
tie their horses. ’Tis.true, many of the
lots are enclosed; and we suppose nearly
enough money has been expended by
individuals in.this way to put a substan
tiaPfqnce around the whole. Time and
again lias the matter been discussed of
enclosing the grounds, but in each in¬
stance ha8 it been dropped. We learn
however that a number of ladies have
determined that the thing shall be done,
and we feel confideut that they will suc¬
ceed. We hope our people, men and
women, old and young, will join heartily
in this movement and that we .will soon
have a burial ground which we will not
be ashamed for strangers to see. The
spot is naturally a lovely one, and by the
expenditure of some money, labor and
taste, could be rendered as attractive a
cemetery aB any village can show.

activity, which may be suits us bn this
side of the water. lie says he often tells
his friends that on the Sabbath day they
must not let anybody come, in the
Tabernacle and go out pf it without
speaking to them about their souls, and
very curious things sometimes happen
as tlie result. lie was preaching one
day and said the minister ought to be
like a Sportsman going out with his gun
and when he fetched the people down
by the gospel, all his members should
be like‘dogs to go and-fetch up the
wounded and the dead. IVben he Imd
■done preaching one of the deacons said,
“J believe there are many of us, sir,
that would be very glad to go out as
dogs after souls, but our minister is a
dreadfully poor shot. There is never
anything to pick up.” Well, pray-for
him. If they prayed for him, he would
take truer aim next time. We refrain
