We learn that the Pastor of the Bap¬ tist church has started the plan of hav¬ ing religious services at some private bouse every Wednesday evening. The idea is a good one ; and we hope will meet with a hearty encouragement | from bis church and congregation. It! Las long been a reproach to our village | that there is kept up no Wednesday night prayer meeting. The fact seems to be a reproach to the piety and intelli¬ gence of cur community, we are in this particular so far behind other villages that are less favored. There is, in fact, no good reason why one or the other of our houses of worship should not lx: open every Wednesday uight. We have liesides the eloquent pastor of the Bap list church, a number of church mem bers who profess the gifts of speech and song to a sufficient extent to render such gatherings interesting and profitable.
