Mr. Simpson, draining his pond last Friday morning, caught the carp and counted them. There were one hun¬ dred and eighty-seven found,—fourteen having disappeared. A bird known as the king-fisher had been troubling the pond, and it is thought he caught some of them. The largest carp was eight inches long, and a very fine fish.— Washington Gazette.
