In clearing up land recently on Ket¬
tle creek in this county, where the bat¬
tle of Kettle creek was fought during
the revolutionary War, bullets were
found deeply imbedded in some of the
old trees. The old fiint-and-steel guns
had stuck them perhaps not out of
’sight, but a century’s growth had pla¬
ced them where only the woodman’s
ax could find them.

A terrible accident occurred on the
1 plantation of Mr. O. L. Cloud, near
1 Wrightsboro, on Friday last, resulting
in the death of a negro man named
James Jones. The negro was atten
dmg to the steam thresher, which Was
I running at high speed. Suddenly tile

in the skull and producing a ghastly

One day last week Mr. Joe. Eumkin,
in the Flatwoods, had a cow to be if ta¬
ken sick, and was prostrated as dy
ing. But as he and another gentleman
went to where she vvasjto get her up and
give her some remedy she became fu
l’ous, arising and making for tbe gen¬
tlemen. She continued her running
for some time, hooking and biting
whatever came in her way, until she
was killed. As she had been bitten
previous by a dog that showed signs of
byorophobia. it is an undoubted fact
that she was mad.
