Ada Iiuba, aged 10 months, infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Durst,
of Thomson, died on Thursday July
5th.
Jones Harris, aged 2 months and 9
days infant son of Mr. and Mrs. G. II.
Erabiee, of Thomson, died on Monday,
July 2d.
Ann Eliza, aged 1 year 7 mouths and
21 days, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cic¬
ero Wair, of this vicinity, died on
Thursday last, ttie 5th instant.
Mrs. Hevens, formerly Miss Parks,
wife of Dr. T. H. Bevens, of Harlem,
died in that place on Wednesday last,
and was buried on Thursday in the
‘ cemetery in Thomson.

Mr. John F. Phinizy, one of Ogle¬
thorpe’s oldest and most respected cit¬
izens breathed his last, at 9:30 o’clock,
last Monday night, at his home, in
Antioch.
The news reached us of a cutting
affair that took place in tne lower part
of this c unity at Mr. A. A. Kayle’s
store, near Dry For., a few days ago.
Mr. Tom Broak being insulted by one
of tlie colored race, used bis pocket
knife mechanically and come near
killing him.
Last Friday evening Mr. Anderson
a tin peddler, left Lexington in perfect
health and next morning lie was found
dead in ins wagon near the creek about
a mile from town. Mr. Anderson was
a wounded soldier of the late war, who
lost Ins leg in the bloody struggles for
his country and lias been following tin
peddling for a surport for several years.

and exhibitions brought many visitors
to our village. A good many spent

Orange county is situated mostly be

There is a beauty in an orange grove

or had in the spring. This, though, is
an exception, and fruit is not looked

seedlings. By budding fruit can be
obtained seveial years sooner. The
fruiting of the budded trees retards the
growth, and it is claimed by some that
the larger yield of the seedling, when
it does come into bearing, much more
than compensates for the few years dif¬
ference in time. *
