Silvey Dago, wife of Leroy Dago, died
of appoplexy one day last week.
Mr. Cornelius Harper, who has bee n
quite ill for some days is up.

Dr. Stanton’s new dwelling is near¬
ing completion.
Dr. II. W. Hubert’s kitchen caught
on fire last week but was out before
much damage was done.
A tramp got into Mr. E.B. Farmer’s
Bed room the other night and stole his
pants and pocket change, also some of
the children’s clothes.
The brick pillars of another large
Store house have been laid in Norwood ;
the work will soon commence and when
completed the house will be owned by
Mr. W. F. Buford, also Mr. F. H, Mc
Ginty will soon build a good dwelling
in Norwood.
Mr. V. A. Scott ope of our clever
young farmers lias the lumber hauled
for a hanlsome cottage, aud the fram¬
ing has commenced, Also we should
not forget to speak of a beautiful
dwelling that will in a few days be
built for a Mr. Bailey.

smaller ears, has been sent into us from
Mr. W. A. Pope’s plantation. This
growth is said to be caused from rains

matured.

cotton have been received at the depot
in Washington since first of the month,

Mr. W. W. Richards has about com

In the Shields-Sitton murder trial at
t harlotte, S. C., .Saturday, f.L Sliields
was found guilty of murder ami sen¬
tenced to be hanged October 12. An
appeal was taken. Shields shot Sit ton
for seducing his sister and refusing to

Betsy Jones, colored, of Abbeville
county, South Carolina, killed her La
taut child last Friday, taking it by the
heels and beating its body and her head

her. She afterwards threw it in a
