Eugene Beck, the man who shot and killed his wife and lief sister, has been tried in Rabun Superior Court, con victed and sentenced to the penitentia¬ ry for life. Several distinguished phy¬ sicians testify that, in their opinion, when this double murder was commit led, Beck was insane, and on this tes¬ timony the jury recommended him to mercy. J. Luther Young, aged 52, of Wnglitsville, this State, has added his name to the long list of suicides. His sweetheart, Miss Morrison, had broken her engagement with him because lie had fallen into bad habits and was drinking. He called to see her in Co¬ lumbia last Thursday, and urge! her to marry him, but she refused to do so. He then walked into an adjoining room and shot himself through the heart.
