DERFUL SPRING
Mrs, C. B. Davidson and W. M.
Roberson attended the Quartley
Conference at Bladen Tuesday, and
report the meeting and trip as being
fine. On their way home they
stopped at the to be famous Poca
hontas Spring, near Waynesville.
This is a newly discoveaed spring
the water of which is believed to
contain medical properties sufficient
to cure almost any disease. It is
owned by Mrs. Willie McEldary
and she has it in fine snape.

Mr. F. 0. Knox, the local Ford
dealer has practically completed his
garage building and has a shipment
of new Fords ar.d parts to offer the
citizens of Brantley County,
The car of Fords arrived last
Friday, and have been put up and
are now on display at his new garage
building. Six new Fords and some
thing over $2,000 00 worth of Ford
parts.
Mr. Ivy Dowling, of Hickox, was
the first victim, having purchased
a new’ Ford Monday, of this week,
and he says she sure does run fine.

Women Must Pay Poll Tax dan. Ist.
The law imposing poll tax on
women does not go into effect until
Jan. Ist 1922. So says the Comp
troller —Gereral, Wm. A. Wright.
They must however pay poll on or
after Jan. Ist 1922.
Governor Arrested
Gov. Thomas Hardwick, was
arrested in Griffin, Ga, on last
Thursday for breaking the speec
limit. Speed officer Weaver made
the arrest. The governer was enroute
Barnesville where he made a speech
that day.
Pierce Gify Gouit in Session
The September adjourned term
of city court was held at Blackshar
last week, with Judge G. Mitchell,
Jr., on the bench and solicitor S.

the Nahunta Federal Loan Associa

meeting will be called on Saturday,
October 22nd, for the purpose of

Brunswick spent the week-end with

is spending some time with her sis

Miss Laura Rozier has returned
heme after spending some time in

Mrs. Newton, of Hoboken, died
from heart failure, Saturday at the
home of Mr. Tom Prescot.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McVeigh, of
Brunswick, spent Sunday with
home folks.
Mr. I W. Odum, of Waycross,
spent Sunday here.
Miss Irene Miller, of Brunswick,
spent Sunday with her parents,

Mr. Tom Peek, of Nahunta,
spent Sunday here.
Mrs. W. S. Harrison returned to
her home in Arco, Tuesday night,
accompanied by her little nephew,
Henry Wiggins and little Miss
Leonie Drury.
Twenty-one strikers are to face
jury at Fitzgerald, 3a., on October
17th, charged with murdering en
gineer Reed, on July sth.

Last Friday evening Sheriff Ho
ward, accompanid by his deputies,
responded to a call from Waynes
ville and soon after their arrival at
that place they captured a moor -
shine outfit.
The still was a ten gallon capa
city and was a home-made affair,
the owner having connect'd tl e
copper worm through a ten gallon
gasoline can.
The still was located in a swamp,
only a few hundred yards from the
residence of Lonnie Crews.
There was no one at the still,
but warm ashes indicated that the
still had been in operation that af
ternoon. It is stated that Crews
came to the still while the officers
were investigating the affair and
the sheriff placed him under ar
rest. Crews made bond and was
released the same afternoon.
The sheriff passed through here
Saturday morning enroute to Ho
boken where he went to put the
still away until it is needed as evi
dence.
Mr. Fred Dillon, of Brunswick,
met with the Nahunta Citizens
Band, last Friday night, and he
being an expert with a horn, took
part in the practice. Al^io Fred
likes music, he also likes the girl®
pretty well, therefore after the
practice was over he “catched” him
a girl. He probably will want to
visit Nahunta again.
