The U. S. Department of Agri
culture announced today that they
Will support honey during the 1953
marketing season, which started A
>ril 1, at a national average price
of 10.5 cents per pound. This is 70
percent of the current parity price
adjusted to the 60-pound container
level. The 1952 crop of honey also
was supported at 70 percent? of pari
ty ,but the actual national average
honey support price was 11.4 cents
per pound.
Price support for honey within
Tange of 60 to 90 percent of parity
is mandatory under the Agricultur
al Act of 1949. This is the fourth
continuous year for such a program.
Prices for honey will be supported
through farm-storage loans and by
the offer of the Commodity Credit
Corporation to purchase honey de
livered by producers under purchase
agreements.' As under the 1952 ho
ney price support program, bee
keepers or cooperative associations
of beekeepers can apply for loans
and purchase agreements directly to
county offices of the Production and
Marketing Administration.

Important Notice
To Property Owners
of Brantley County
fore May 1, 1953. I am in my office daily Monday
through Saturday except Wednesday afternoons, to
receive your returns. All property that is not returned
before May 1, will be valued by the Tax Assessors. You
must sign yoitr tax exemptions each year personally
or^ou will lose them, so don’t let the assessors sign for
you.
- There seems to be sonie confusion as to property
that is taxable. In regards to cars, trucks and tractors,
some people seem to get the idea that property of this
nature not paid for is not subject to taxation. But the
law requires you to return all property in your posses*
sion on January 1, whether paid for or not. So return
them and avoid the penalty placed on you by the as
sessors if they have to value them for you.
The revenue department furnishes the assessors
with a slip showing make, model and owner of every
car, truck and trailer tag ordered from Brantley Coun
ty. So return them now and avoid the penalty.
Thanks for your cooperation before May 1.
