City Council'
Asks Bids
For Fire Hose
The Nahunta city council voted
Monday night to advertise for bids
for 500 feet of fire hose and- will
install a number of fire plugs about
over the business section of town
and at the schoolhouse.
The move to give the city some
fire protection has been under con
sideration for several weeks. The
connections for the fire plugs have
now been ordered and the fire hose
and nozzles will be ordered after
the legal time for advertising for
bids has expired.
A reel for the fire hose will be
secured and the • hose can thereby
oe rushed to any section of -the
town where fire plugs are'^^jp-
able. Nahunta has only small two
inch water mains but considerable
protection can be afforded in the
case of small fires.
Future plans call for fHe-Installa

the requirements of fire insurance
underwriters. But an 'overhead tank
must be procured before the six
inch main can be .most effective.

HOBOKEN NEWS
Thought for the week: Loveliest
of early spring is the blooming of
America’s favorite little tree. Like
brides and bridesmaids the dogwood
-line our roadsides, upholding on
slim bare arms their sprays of star
ry bloom. No wonder that, in all
the land, only the remote and lofty
redweeds have so many organized
friends. (Copied).
