Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Mizell and
daughter, Marvine, left on Sunday,
June 14, for a trip out West. They
plan to spend several weeks tour
ing the states including California,
Utah, Nebraska and other states.

is an employee of the REA for the

Lake on Sunday.

Methodist Church will meet Mon
day evening, June 29, at eight o’-
clock at the home of Mrs. Lee God
win. Mrs. Robert Griner will have
charge of the program. All mem
bers are urged to be present.

The Nahunta Garden Club will
meet at the home of Mrs. Ellie
Lang on Tuesday afternoon, June
30, at four o’clock. Mrs. Lula Brown
and Mrs. Tilda Bridges will be co
bostess with Mrs. Lang. Mrs. Brown
will have charge of 'the program
on the topic ‘‘Beautifying Historical
Places in Brantley County. The
members will meet at the home of
Miss Mary Knox at three o’clock
and go in a party to Mrs. Langs.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Dodge have
returned from a visit to their
daughter, Mrs. George A. Smith in
Albuqueque, New Mexico. While
oi>t west they visited Jaurez, Mexi
co, and other points of interest.
They made the 3800 mile trip by
automobile.

Miss Jewell Proctor is very il

Vinson Brooks left Monday even
ing for his camp at Fort Benning,
Ga., after spending the week end
at home with his wife, Mrs. Venice
Brooks.
Mrs. Jos. B. Strickland spent se
veral days of last week with her
daughter, Miss Mattie Lois Strick
land in Swainsboro, Ga.
Lt. W. N. Highsmith left Thurs
day to return to his base in Hutchin
son, Kans, after spendingftwo week:
here with his father, Morris High
smith.
Sidney Highsmith of New York
arrived on Friday to spend some
time with his father, Morris High
smith.
Curtis Livingston has been dis
charged from the U. S. Army after
four years of service. He spent three
years service in Germany. His mo
ther is Mrs. Levi Howard of Na
hunta. Curtis is now employed with
a firm in Nahunta.
Pvt. Jesse B. Thomas has com
pleted his basic military training
at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and
arrived at home on Sunday of last
week to spend a seven day leave
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. B.
Thomas, and other relatives. He has
orders to report to a camp in New
Jersey. From there he will be ship
ped overseas to serve in the U. S.
Army in Germany.
Miss Janice Herrin was guest of
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Huling of
Folkston last weekend.
Van Bibb Saye of Augusta, Ga.,
visited friends in Nahunta during
the weekend.
James Lee visited his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lee, the past
weekend. He lives in Atlanta and
is a" salesman for a machinery com
pany.

As Draft Board Clerk
Mrs. Nellie W. Griffin of Hobo
ken has been appointed clerk of
the Brantley County draft board,
succeeding J. R. fames, retired.
The draft board is composed of
the following citizens: Dewey S.
Griffin, chairman; Moultrie Purdom
and M. M. Manor.
Office days for the local draft
board have been changed to Mon
days and Fridays of each week.
Mr. James served as draft board
clerk for nearly 13 years.
