TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1953
Resolution and order of the Board
of Commissioners of Roads and
Revenues of Brantley County, Geor
gia, levying taxes for said County
of Brantley for the year, 1953.
It is hereby ordered and resoived
by the Board of Commissioners of
Roads and Revenues of Brantley
County, Georgia, sitting for County
purposes in this the 7th day of
July, 1953, that there be and is
hereby levied and assessed for the
year, 1953, upon all the taxable
property of said County of Brant
ley, State of Georgia, subject to
taxation, same to provide the nec
essary revenue for the requirements
Os said County, the following taxes
for the following purposes, to-wit:
1. To pay the expenses of admin
istration of the county government,
1 l|lo Mills.
2. To pay the principal and in
terest of any debt of the county and
to provide a sinking fund therefor,
2 & 6] 10 Mills.
3. To build and repair the public
buildings and bridges, 6 Mills.
4. To pay the expenses of courts,
the maintenance and support of pri
soners and to pay sheriffs and co
roners and for litigation, and for
Salary of County Policeman, 2
Mills.
5. To build and maintain a sys
tem of county roads, 4 Mills.
6. For public health purposes in
said county, and for the collection
and preservation of records of vital
statistics, 2 Mills.
7. To support paupers, 4,10 Mills.
8. To pay county agricultural and
home demonstration agents, B^2o
mills.
9. To provide for payment of old
age assistance to aged persons in
need, and for the payment of assis
tance to needy blind, and to depen
dent children and other welfare be
nefits, provided that no person
6hall be entitled to the assistance
herein authorized who does not qua
lify for such assistance in every
respect, in accordance with enact
ments of the General Assembly
which may be in force and effect
prescribing the qualifications for
beneficiaries hereunder; provided no
indebtedness or liability against the
county shall ever be created for the
purpose herein stated, in excess of
the taxes lawfully levied each fis
cal year under acts of the General
Assembly authorized hereunder for
such purposes, 1 Mill.
10. To provide for fire protection
of forest lands and for the further
conservation .of natural resources,
2 lj2 Mills.
Making the aggregate total of
Two & 20; 100th dollars on the one
hundred dollars of the taxable pro
perty of sard County of Brantley,
exclusive of the levy to pay charges
for educational purposes.
11. To pay charges for educational
purposes to be levied only in strict
compliance of the law, and under
and by virtue of the recommenda
tion of the Board of Education of
Brantley County, Georgia, at a meet
ing held on the 7th day of July,
1953, a certified copy of said resolu
tion being hereto annexed immed
iately following this paragraph, and
being the page immediately follow
ing this page.
Recommendation of the Board of
Education of Brantley County,
Georgia to the Board of Commis
sioners of Roads and Revenues of
said Brantley County for the levy
of taxes for support and mainten
ance of education for the year, 1953.
' At the regular meeting of the
Board of Education of Brantley
County, Georgia, held on the 7th
day of July, 1953, the following
resolution was presented to said
board, and after motion duly made,
seconded and unanimously carried,
said resolution was regularly a
dopted.
Resolved that the Board of Edu
cation of Brilitley County, Georgia,
recommend, and it is hereby rec
ommended, to the Board of Com
missioners of Roads and Revenues of
Brantley County, Georgia that a tax
for support and maintenance of ed
ucation for the year, 1953, of Fif-

gia, that a tax for support and
maintenance of education, for the
year 1953 of Fifteen (15) Mills or
Fifteen Dollars on the One Thou
sand Dollars, be levied on all tax
able property in said County of
Brantley, (save that exempted by
the Constitution and Laws of the
State of Georgia, as to personalty
and homestead exemption.)
It is further ordered and resolved
that all such taxes be collected by
the Tax Commissioners of said
County of Brantley, as provided by
law.
