ABE REMED
Nine indictments, including two
for murder, were made by the
May term Pierce county Grand
Jury which is in session this
week. ' ♦
Walter Verlon Bennett was in
dicted for murder in the fatal
shooting of Joel C. Stokes with
a .22 rifle on Feb. 7. Mr. Bennett
was also shot on this occasion
■ and was hospitalized as a result.
Stokes died in the Pierce County
Hospital.
Eddie B. Turner, colored, of
Patterson was indicted for the
murder of his common law wife
Lois Harris, who died of internal
injuries caused by “external vio
lence,” according to a coronor’s
jury report. The woman’s body
had also suffered burns in ad
dition to evidence of a beating.

by virtue of an order of the Court
of Ordinary of Brantley County.
Georgia, will sell at public outcry
to the highest and best bidder for
cash on the first Tuesday in June,
1954, between the legal hours of
sale the property hereinafter de
scribed. Said property shall be sold
upon the premises, the same being
located at Waynesville, in Brantley
County, Georgia, and being the pro
perty occupied by the late K. O.
Rozier as a dwelling and store
building, and is described as a
whole as follows:
Said tract of land containing ap
proximately one acre located in the
village of Waynesville, Brantley
County, Georgia, and being a por
tion of Lot 62 of the Wiggins survey
and bounded as a whole on the
north a distance of 152.55 feet by
State Highway Road No. 50 - U. S.
84, on the east a distance of 294.25
feet by lands of Mack Rozier, on
the south a distance of 164.10 feet
by lands of the Waverly Company,
and on the West a distance of 165.20
feet by lands of Mrs. Letha Mc-
Veigh, the Methodist Church and
W. G. Gibson Estate.
The above described tract of land
contains a residence and a store
building which shall be offered for
sale separately and as a whole.

upon a plat attached to the peti
