WOY BROTHERS 2 BORDER raCTMENTS ABE REMED Nine indictments, including two for murder, were made by the May term Pierce county Grand Jury which is in session this week. ' ♦ Walter Verlon Bennett was in dicted for murder in the fatal shooting of Joel C. Stokes with a .22 rifle on Feb. 7. Mr. Bennett was also shot on this occasion ■ and was hospitalized as a result. Stokes died in the Pierce County Hospital. Eddie B. Turner, colored, of Patterson was indicted for the murder of his common law wife Lois Harris, who died of internal injuries caused by “external vio lence,” according to a coronor’s jury report. The woman’s body had also suffered burns in ad dition to evidence of a beating.
