Annual
Dairy
Festival
June 8
Putnam County’s Dairy Festival June 8 at Eatonton
will feature a colorful parade honoring "Miss Dairy
Maid,” an address by Governor Talmadge, street danc
ing, and a tour of the prize dairy farms that have
brought a sound economy to this central Georgia county
since the boll weevil dethroned King Cotton 30 years
ago. Pretty Putnam County "Milkmaids” will dispense
free ice cold milk to Festival visitors. Already famed as
the birthplace of Uncle Remus, Putnam County offers
additional attractions in Rock Eagle, the $2,000,000
4-H Club state recreation and education center, and
250 miles of good fishing along Lake Sinclair’s shorelines.
In Putnam County and throughout Georgia, the
U.S. Brewers Foundation works constantly to assure
the sale of beer and ale under pleasant, orderly condi
tions. Believing that strict law enforcement serves the
best interests of the people of Georgia, the Foundation
stresses close cooperation with the Armed Forces, law
enforcement and governing officials in its continuing
"self-regulation” program.
