STATE PATROL
HEAD WARNS
GA. MOTORISTS
Drive Safely
Over Weekend
Dominy Urges
Atlanta, Ga., —To motorists
planning Labor Day weekend
trips, Colonel W. C. Dominy,
head of the Georgia State Pat
rol, issues a stern warning. In
eifect, Colonel Dominy warned
against speeding, drinking and
driving on the wrong
side of the road and a general
disregard of traffic laws.
“These are our most comon
"V » killers, and they are particular-
ly in evidence during holiday
travel,” Colonel Dominy stated.
‘Too many motorists try to cover
too many miles and instead of
reaching their desired destina
tion, they end up on a morti
cian’s slab,” he further stated.
State Patrol officials fear a
possibilty of 200 accidents, 100
injuries and at least 10 deaths
over the forthcoming Labor Day
weekend, these figures based on
previous traffic experience dur
ing this same period. Last year,
nine Georgians lost their lives
in Labor Day mishaps. The year
before there were 28 deaths dur
ing this same hazardous period.
According to actual accident
reports, the Patrol lists speeding

THE OPPOSITION SAID: “The Clerk of the U. S.
House DOES NOT compile voting records . . .”
BUT HERE IT IS! Reproduced here is a letter from the
House Clerk written when he sent Don Wheeler his in
dividual voting record.
Member’s Voting and Attendance Record
Dear Congressman:
I take pleasure in enclosing your voting
and attendance record for the First Session of the
Eighty-third Congress, together with Index.
The record is prepared in this form for
your personal use, and I cannot impress upon you too
strongly the value of preserving it. As the length of
your service in the House grows, you will become more
and more impressed by the usefulness of this compilation.
I should be pleased to learn that
record has reached your hands safely.
Assuring you of my sincere desir® to be
of every service possible, and with kindest regards, I
remain
THIS IS BUT A SAMPLE of the untruths, the half
truths and the TOTAL DISREGARD FOR FACT which
have poured from the hired pens of the opposition in a
vicious effort to capture the minds of the voters.

T th Ad Authorized by Den Wheeler and Paid For By HU Friends of the Eighth District,
as the first and foremost cause
of accidents, drinking and dri
ving second and driving on the
wrong side of the road third.
The “me first” attitude and dis
regard for the rights and privi
leges of others on our streets and
highways contribute to nearly all
serious violations and subsequent
accidents, deaths and injuries.
Every available member of the
State Patrol, Georgia Bureau of
Investigation, city and county
police and sheriffs” departments
will be on continous patrol dul.
to spot violators and removt
them from the road. Anyone at
tempting to ignore and evade
traffic laws will be merely court
ing disaster and death.
The advice of the Patrol is
"stay at home” during any dan
gerous ‘holiday celebration un
less you will take it easy; obey
traffic laws; drive at safe speed;
leave off drinking and driving;
stay on your own side of the
road and show a little more con
cern for the other fellow.
As a final reminder, Colonel
Dominy urged motorists to rem
ember that the highways belongs
to everyone, and all persons have
the right to travel them, free
from the murderous action of
others. “Let’s put the Golden
Rule into action this Labor Day,”
Colonel Dominy concluded.
"Help save the lives of those ten
persons expected to die in holi
day traffic.”
