Nahunta Garden Club
The Nahunta Garden Club met at
the home of Mrs. A. S. Mizell with
Mrs. C. F. Starnes and Mrs. J. R.
James as co-hostesses, on Tuesday
afternoon, Nov. 30, with Mrs. Edna
Adams presiding.
Mrs. D. S. Moody is president for
the coming year, Mrs. Lula Brown
is vice-president, Mrs. C. P. Bethe,
secretary and Mrs. Dorothy Brooker
is treasurer.
Mrs. J. B. Lewis made a report
on the Associated Garden Club meet
held at Baxley.
Plans were made for the Christ
mas party to be held at the home of
Mrs. TT. K. Persons with Mrs. H. B.
Brooker as co-hostess on December
23.

Brooker Wins
For Mayor
Os Blackshear
H. M. Brooker was elected as
Mayor of Blackshear Wednesday
as the heaviest vote ever cast in
a city election was recorded.
Brooker won with 355 votes to
265 for Incumbent H. H. Mc-
Gregor and 217 for the third
candidate in the race, O. H.
Thompson.
Incumbents Mack Carter, E.
L. Darling Jr. and Ancil E. Da
vis were re-elected to the City
Council. Three new Councilmen
were also named, all newcomers
to city politics. They were Ju
lian M. Dean, Aubrey Geiger
and James B. Hendry.
The vote for Council was as

The Hickox W.M.S. met Friday
night at the Baptist Church with
Mrs. W. L. Bohannon as leader. The
program topic was “New Roads in
Southern Rhodesia’’. Taking parts
were Mesdames Charlie Stewart,
Sadye Thornton, Eunice Johnson,
Pearlie Lewis, Florrie Crews, Betty
Hendrix, Lois Lee, Carolyn John
son and Lorraine Jacobs. Mrs. Lor
raine Jacobs presided during busi
ness session. Others present were:
Mrs. Icey Johns and Mrs. Elizabeth
Morgan. Mrs. Lois Lee and Mrs.
Florrie Crews were the hostesses,
serving soft drinks and cookies.

A special Thanksgiving Service
was neiu at the Kivcioide Baptist
Cnurcn on Thanksgiving Day, with
Rev. Lester Dixon preaching at tne
eleven o’clock hour. It was an all
-ay affair with dinner on the
ground. Singing and fellowship was
enjoyed in the afternoon.
PERSONALS
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Barnes have
returned home after a vacation sin
ce Nov. 8. While away they visited
relatives in Savannah, Swainsboro,
in Georgia and Pahokee and West
Palm Beach, Florida.
