Friends will regret to learn of
illness of Mrs. James Colvinn of
Thomasville who has been a
patient at the Archbold Memorial
Hospital where she underwent
major surgery. Mr. and Mrs. L. C.
Colvin spent last weekend with
their son James and Mrs. Colvin
and grandson Jimmy.
Mrs. W. H. Colvin is visiting
Mr. and Mrs. Latt Tyre in Aug
usta for several weeks.
Mrs. W. B. Weeks, Jeanne,
Chip, and Gary of Jacksonville
spent a couple of days last week
as the guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Nolan Davis, Jr. at Noelda Farm.

Albert Lawton Thomas is the
name of the new baby son of
Mr. and Mrs? Wendell Thomas of
St. Marys. The little boy was
born on August 30, and will be
called Al. He is the grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thomas of
Hoboken.
Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Davis, Sr.
are vacationing at Crescent Lake,
Florida this week.
Rev. John Meeks is conducting
a revival at the Ten Mile Baptist
Church near Alma this week.
Next week the Fall revival of
the Hoboken Baptist Church will
begin with Rev. Clyde Jones of
Folkston as the guest preacher.
Services will be held each even
ing at Bo’clock Monday through
Saturday and Sunday Morning
and evening at the regular church
services.

Water Control
Proposal Set
For Assembly
The General Assembly will be
asked to set up a permanent
Georgia water resources commis
sion to enforce state water use
and conservation laws.
Members of the Georgia Wa
ter Law Revision Commission
have named two committees to
study the organization of the new
controlling body. The study
groups also will coordinate sug
gestions on pollution problems.
A water quality commit
tee, headed by Mayor B. F. Mer
ritt Jr. of Macon, will review
water pollution in the state.
The second special committee,
with George F. Powers of Mil
ledgeville as chairman, will com
bine pollution reports and pro
posals for the new commission.
The group is scheduled to report
to the revision commission as a
whole on Oct. 2.
Scott Candler, chairman of
the Revision Commission, said
the committes will study pro
posals submitted by the Georgia
Water Use and Conservation
Assn., the State Game and Fish
Commission, the attorney general
and “certain industrial interests
of Georgia.”
