National Sunday School Week Planned
The week of April Bth through the 14th has been set
aside as National Sunday School Week, dedicated to
America’s Youth in Religipn. The sponsor of the week,
the Laymen’s National Committee, Inc., has chosen this
guiding theme for the occasion: “Sunday School — Source
of Spiritual Strength.”
More than ever before our young people need the
guidance of religious training and education. It is through
our Sunda/Schools that tomorrow’s leaders are introduced
to fundamental principles that lay the groundwork for a
fuller, happier and more useful later life. It is through
the Sunday School that religious appreciation and under
standing can be applied in terms of everyday living, and
help our young people to become better citizens. This is
the significance of Sunday School Week.
Schools to Observe
Spring Holidays

Herschel Herrin, county school
superintendent.
The first known installation of a free piston turbine engine in a tractor is announced by Ford
Motor Company’s Tractor and Implement Division. Strictly experimental, the Ford Typhoon tractor is
powered by a single cylinder engine having two free-moving pistons. The pistons produce gas under
pressure which drives a turbine, providing smooth power with greatly reduced vibration. The Typhoon
now utilizes about half of the 100 horsepower which the engine is capable of producing.
