TOOL KIT
*105.000
. . . per employe
IT TAKES A LOT of money to give a Georgia rower
Company worker a job. The Company’s plant
investment, or “tool kit,” averages $105,000 for
each employe.
“Tools” come high in this industry. A
single steam-electric turbine may cost many
millions of dollars. A substation transformer may
be priced iri hundreds of thousands. Each year
we buy long poles and heavy wire to build
hundreds of miles of new power lines.
The very best of modern tools and e^uidment
in the hands of willing and well-trained
workers is a combination that can’t be beat.
That’s the combination we have forking foir ydu.

New Bulletin
Gives Steps for
Producing Sheep
Sheep Production in Georgia,
a new bulletin issued by the Ag
ricultural Extension Service, Uni
versity of Georgia College of Ag
riculture, is now available from
county agents.
Written by Denis C. DeLoach,
Extension sheep specialist, cfnd
R. O. Williams, Extension ani
mal husbandman — project lead
er, the booklet presents manage
ment and handling practices nec
essary to profitable sheep pro
duction in the state. Numerous
pictures illustrates use of sheep
production tools and equipment.
Basic steps such as establish
ing the sheep flock, feeding the
ewes, handling bred ewes, car
ing for lambs, protecting sheep
and lambs against diseases and
parasites, and the marketing of
lambs and wool are discussed
in detail by the authors. Special
features — especially valuable
to the beginning sheep producer
— are a glossary of sheep terms
and a sheep management calen
dar for the entire year.
Information in this bulletin is
based upon research and experi
ence gained in conducting Geor
gia’s renewed sheep industry now
only two and a half years old.
In late 1954, in cooperation with
the Agricultural Extension Serv
ice, the Citizens and Southern
Banks of Georgia sponsored es
tablishment of a sheep progrago
consisting of 21 demonstration
flocks under supervision of De-
Loach.
Geongia farmers became inter
ested to the extent that more
than 20,000 ewes were shipped
into the state during 1955 and
another 13,000 ewes were im
ported in 1956. Altogether 1,100
purebred rams were imported
during thjs period. Today ap
proximately 1,000 farmers in
Georgia are producing sheep. In
come from sheep in Georgia in
1956 approached $500,000, while
prior to 1955 such income was
negligible.

“INSTEAD OF LOOKING FORWARD OR BACKWARD,
IN TROUBLESOME TIMES LOOK UPWARD . . .
It is true that often times we are prone to dwell tod long
on what might have been or what used to be, when beset by
troubles. We often cast about in all directions looking for an
swers to our problems and balm for our wounds, but not always
thinking to look upward for the guidance, solace and courage
which we so desperately need.
4b
Our ability to weather troublesome times may often call
for a greater amount of strength and courage than we can
single-handedly muster, but a reserve of this strength and cour
age is within our reach if we have the faith to call upon it.
We will find this great and comforting reserve — not behind
uS, or before us — but upward.
