“The Secretary of Agriculture
recommended and the Congress
approved an authorization of
$250,000,000 nationally for the
1958 ACP,’’ Bradley announced.
“The available funds were allo
cated among states on the basis
of relative conservation needs and
Georgia’s allocation for 1958 was
$7,380,000. Adding to this alloca
tion the increases authorized by
law to farmers who earn small
payments, the total ACP aid to
Georgia farmers for the year will
be well above $7,500,000. This is
the largest annual amount of
ACP funds that has been avail
able to Georgia farmers in recent
years.”
The important conservation
practices for which 1958 ACP
cost-sharing will be offered to
farmers in the state include
planting new permanent vegeta

improving old permanent pas

rotations, applying lime in con
nection with conservation crops,
planting trees, woodland im
provement, terracing, drainage,
constructing dams, wells and
pipelines for livestock and con-

Announcement of the program
in each county will be .made lo
