Every good farmer
is a businessman
WHETHER HE SELLS the fruits of his labors at a
roadside stand or sends them in carlots to far
away markets, today’s successful farmer is a
businessman.
He tries to keep production costs as low as
possible. That’s one reason he uses more and
more electric power. Electricity has no match
in performing farm chores efficiently. For only
a penny it can pump 500 gallons of water, grind
100 pounds of feed, milk 14 cows, or brood a chick
for six weeks. Electricity can do more than 300
different jobs on the farm, all at penny wages.
For 31 years our rural engineers have been
helping Georgia farmers to make the most efficient
use of their electric service. There is no cost or
obligation for this assistance. Thousands of farm
ers request and receive it every year.

Five cases of polio are present
ly hospitalized at Ware Memorial
Hospital, Waycross.
The cases are all small child
ren, ranging in age from 18
months to six years.
Three of the children live in
a rural section of Coffee County.
Another is from -Ware County,
and the fifth is from Jeff Davis
County. Two of the Coffee Coun
ty children are brothers, and the
other Coffee County case is their
cousin, living near the two little
boys.
Four of the cases have had no
polio vaccine and have been di
agnosed as paralytic polio. The
fifth child is reported to have
had two polio shots, and has a
generalized weakness, according
to the attending physician.
The U. S. Public Health Ser
vice reported 8 cases of polio in
Georgia as of June 14th. This
does not include the 5 cases in
Ware Memorial Hospital. The fig
ure of 8 cases on June 14, com
pares with 22 reported on June
15, 1957.
County chapters of the Nation
al Foundation for Infantile Para
lysis urge all parents to contact
their physicians or the County
Health Department for advice on
polio immunization, if their child
ren have not begun or completed
the series of three Salk shots.
Adults are also urged to avail
themselves of this protection, as
paralytic effects are often more
severe in adult cases.

How POWR-LOK Works
With a conventional differential,
power goes to the wheel with the
least traction. This results in a loss
of power —and you're stuck. But
with POWR-LOK, power goes to
the wheel with the most traction.
So long as either wheel can catch
hold, you Iteep moving.
