This land was my father’s. Now it is mine. Often, as I work upon it,
the words of Genesis come to me: “In the beginning, God created the
heavens and the earth.” And I think, too, of those other words from the
same Book: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of
Eden to till it and to keep it.”
God entrusted the precious soil to us, and it is our duty to use it well.
But he gave us stewardship of something even more precious—our souls.
Just as we must care for the land, so must we enrich ourselves, spiritual
ly. And the place in which to cultivate our souls is the Church.
Let us take a lesson from the land, which when well used is wonder
fully productive, yet when neglected brings only aridity and erosion. Let
us care for our spiritual as well as our physical fields. Let’s go to church!

The Church is the greatest factor on earth for
the building of character and good citizenship'.
It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a
strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization
can survive. There are four sound reasons why
every person should attend services regularly and
support the Church. They are: (I) For his
own sake. (2) For his children’s sake. (3) For
the sake of his community and nation. (4) For
the sake of the Church itself, which needs his
moral and material support. Plan to go to
church regularly and read your Bible daily.
