Adopted by Commissioners
BRANTLEY COUNTY, GEOR
GIA, TAX LEVY FOR THE
YEAR 1959
Resolution and order of the
Board of Commissioners of Roads
and Revenues, of Brantley Coun
ty, Georgia, levying taxes for said
County for the year, 1959.
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED
AND RESOLVED, by the Board
of Commissioners of Roads and
Revenues, of Brantley County,
Georgia, sitting for County pur
poses on this the 7th day of July,
1959, that there be and is hereby
levied and assessed for the year
1959, upon all taxable property
of said County of Brantley State
of Georgia, subject to taxation,
same to provide the necessary re
venue for the requirements of
said County, the following taxes
for the following purposes, to
wit:
1. To pay the expenses of the
administration of the County
Government, One and 5/10ths
mills.
2. To pay the principal and in
terest of any debt of the County
and to provide a sinking fund
therefor, Two Mills,
3. To build and repair the pub
lic buildings and bridges, Nine
and l/10ths Mills.
4. To pay the expenses of the
Courts, the maintenance and sup
port of prisoners and to pay sher
iffs and Coroners and for the ex
pense of litigation, One and
5/10ths-Mills.
5. To build and maintain a sy
stem of County Roads, Four
Mills.
6. For public health purposes
in said County, and for the col
lection and preservation of re
cords of vital statistics, Three
Mills.
7. To support paupers, One Mill,
8. To pay County agricultural
and home demonstration agents,
4 lOths Mills.
9. To provide for the payment
of old age assistance to aged per
sons in need, and for the payment
of assistance to the needy, blind
and to dependent children and
other welfare benefits, provided
that no person shall be entitl
ed to the assistance herein auth-
orized who does not qualify for
such assistance in every respect,
in accordance with the enact
ments of the General Assembly
which may be of force and effect
prescribing the qualifications for
beneficiaries hereunder; provided
that' no indebtness or liability a-

the acts of The General Assembly
authorized hereunder for such
purposes, Two Mills.
10. To provide for the creation
of a fund to be used for assisting,
promoting, and encouraging, the
location of new industries in said
County, and the development of
agriculture in Brantley County,
Georgia, One Mill.
11. To provide for fire protec
tion for forest lands and to fur
ther conservation of natural re
sources, One and 5 lOths Mills.
Making the aggregate total of
Two and 80SlOOths dollars on the
One Hundred dollars of taxable
property, of said County of Brant
ley Exclusive of the levy to pay
the charges for educational pur
poses.
13. To pay charges for educa
tional purposes to be levied only
in strict compliance with law,
and under and by virtue of the
recommendations of the Board
of Education of Brantley County,
Georgia, at a meeting held on this
the 7th day of July, 1959, a cer
tified copy of said resolution be
ing hereunto annexed immediate
ly following this paragraph, and
being the page immediately fol
lowing this page.
RECOMMENDATION OF THE
BOARD OF EDUCATION OF
BRANTLEY COUNTY, GEOR
GIA, to The Board of Commiss
ioners of Roads and Revenues
of said County, for the levy of
taxes for the support and main
tenance of education in said
County, for the year 1959.
AT REGULAR SESSION of
the Board of Education of said
County, held on the 7th day of
July, 1959, the following resolu
tion was presented to said board,
and after motion duly made, se
conded and unanimously carried,
said resolution was regularily ad
opted.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the
Board of Education of said Coun
ty, recommend and it is hereby
recommended to the Board of
Commissioners of Roads and Re
venues of said County, that a
tax for the support and main
tenance of education for the year
1959 of Fifteen Mills (15) or Fif
teen Dollars on the One Thousand
Dollars be levied on all taxable
property in Brantley County,
Georgia (save that excepted and
exempted by the Constitution

with the foregoing resolution it
is ordered and resolved by the
Board of Commissioners of
Roads and Revenues of Brantley
County, Georgia, that a tax for
the support and maintenance of
Education, for the year, 1959 of
Fifteen (15) Mills or Fifteen Dol
lars on the One Thousand Dol
lars be levied on all taxable pro
perty in said County of Brantley
and the State of Georgia (save
that exemption by the constitu
tion and Laws of the State of
Georgia, as to personalty and
homestead exemptions.)
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED
AND RESOLVED that all taxes
be collected by the Tax Commiss
ioner of said County, as provid
ed by law.

made, seconded and carried, On
