first Tuesday of December 1960,

That certain tract of land con
taining 83 9 acres, more or less,
in original lot of land number 44
in the Second Land District of
Brantley County, Georgia, and
bounded as follows: On the North
by an established line connecting
with the West land lot line and
parallel with the North land lot
line and forming a right angle
with the Eastern land lot line at
a point 1,292 feet South of the
North land lot line; thence in an
Easterly direction a distance of
2,265 feet to a concrete corner
and the lands of Mrs. N. Lewis;
thence following the run of a
certain stream in a Southerly
direction to the South original
land lot line; thence in a Wester
ly direction for a distance of
2,497.8 feet along the lands of
M. L. Anderson to the Western
original lot line of said lot; thence
following the lot line in a North
erly direction for a distance of
1,523.2 feet along the lands of
Brunswick Pulp and Paper Com
pany to the point of beginning.
For a more complete description
reference is made to a plat dated
December 1, 1959, prepared from
a survey by John K. Dußose, said
plat is of record in the office of
the Clerk of the Superior Court
of Brantley County, Georgia.
The Judge of said Court will
have to sanction this sale before
it is complete and final, and a
deed conveying good title will be
executed to the successful pur
chaser upon confirmation of the
sale by the Judge of Brantley
County Superior Court.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ON SATILLA, ST. MARYS, AND
SUWANNEE RIVER SURVEY
STUDY, FLORIDA AND GEOR
GIA
Pursuant to section 205 of the
Flood Control Act of 1950 (HR
5472) approved 17 May 1950
(Title 11, Public Law 516, 81st
Congress), the District Engineer
has been directed to make a pre
liminary examination and survey
of the Satilla, St. Marys, and Su
wannee River Basins, Florida
and Georgia, to determine the ad
visability of providing improve
ments for flood control, naviga
tion and other beneficial uses.
In order that the required re
port may fully cover the matter,
public hearings will be held in
the St. Marys and Satilla River
Basins and in the Suwannee River
Basin. The first of these public
hearings will be held in the
Ware County Courthouse, Way
cross, Georgia, on 8 December
1960 at 10:00 A. M. to cover mat
ters pertaining primarily to the
Satilla and St. Marys River Ba
sins. Public hearings will be
scheduled later by the District
Engineer, U. S. Army Engineer
District, Jacksonville, Florida to
cover matters pertaining to the
Suwannee River Basin.
All interested parties are in
vited to be present or represent
ed at the above time and place,
including representatives of Fed
eral, state, county, and municipal
agencies and those of commercial,
industrial, civic, highway, rail
road, and flood control interests,
and property owners concerned.
They will be afforded full oppor
tunity to express their views con
cerning the character and extent
of the improvement desired and
the need and advisability of its
execution. Sponsors of the im
provement are urged to present

provement desired and to give
detailed supporting data on the
economic justification of the un
dertaking. Opposing interests, if
any, are also urged to state the
reason for their position.
Specific information should be
furnished concerning:
a. The need for improving the
waterways for flood control, navi
gation, water supply, and relat
ed water uses.
b. What areas in the river ba
sins need flood protection?
c. What has been the nature
and extent of the damage from
floods?
d. The location and extent of
navigation improvement desired.
e. The nature and extent of
commerce expected to use the im
provement and the need for en
larging the present channels to
accommodate the prospective
traffic.
f. Local cooperation that may
be expected, such as furnishing
free of cost access lands, ease
ments and rights-of-way neces
sary for the improvement.
g. The name of the organization
that would be responsible for ful
filling terms of local cooperation.
Oral statements will be heard
but for accuracy of record all
important facts and arguments
should be submitted in writing,
in quadruplicate, as the records
of the hearing will be forwarded
for consideration by the Secre
tary of the Army. Written state
ments may be handed to the un
dersigned at the hearing or mail
ed to him beforehand.
It is requested the foregoing be
brought to the attention of per
sons known to you to be interest
ed in the matter.
