our mahy blessings . . . Let us renew the spirit of
cooperation which brought light into darkness . . .

Walker County, named for U. S. Senator Major Freeman
Walker, was created from 448 square miles of Murray County
lands on December 18, 1833. It is Georgia’s 89th county and
ranks 40th in size. The county seat town of LaFayette, previ
ously known as Chattooga, was named for the Marquis de
LaFayette. The county is the site of Chickamauga National
Park which memorializes the Battle of Chickamauga, fought
in September of 1863. Spacious underground caves and large
freshwater mineral springs are found near LaFayette and
throughout the county. Other towns in this beautiful county
include Flintstone, Pond Spring, Noble, Kensington, Cedar
Grove, Center Post, Harrisburg, Sublinga, Vallanow, Lind
wood, Naomi, Catlett and Rock Spring. Principal family in
come in Walker County comes from diversified farming, live
stock and poultry raising, forest products, and numerous
textile industries.
In Walker County, and throughout Georgia, the United
States Brewers Foundation works constantly to assure the
sale of beer and ale under pleasant, orderly conditions. Believ
ing that strict law enforcement serves the best interest of the
people of Georgia, the Foundation stresses close cooperation
with the Armed Forces, law enforcement and governing officials.
