the Georgia Forestry Commission,

a ten (10) inch stump.

Methodists Plan
Camp Glisson Day
DAHLONEGA — Ground will
be broken for a new $25,000
guest house at the North Georgia
Conference’s Methodist Camp
ground when members of that de
nomination convene for Camp
Glisson Day on May 20.
About 1,000 Methodists are ex
pected to hear Bishop John Owen
Smith speak, see a plaque award
ed to Dr. Fred Glisson, and en
joy the recreational facilities for
the day at the campground near
Dahlonega.
New Plant for Augusta
The Proctor & Gamble Manu
facturing Company today an
nounced plans to build a synthe
tic detergents plant in Augusta
which will employ 175-200 per
sons and have a million-dollar an
nual payroll when completed in
early 1963.
The new plant will be the first
of its kind in the Southeast.
Howard Morgens, president of
Proctor & Gamble, said site pre
paration work will begin late this
month on a 283-acre site in the
Miracle Mile industrial district
five miles from the Augusta city
limits on State Route 56. Actual
construction will begin early this
fall.
Although design for the plant is
incomplete, Mr. Morgens said
Procter & Gamble expects final
costs for building, equipment and
inventory to be in excess of $4
million.
