It’s the process of cultivation by placing the
roots of plants in liquid nutrient solutions rather
than in soil . . . and which uses electricity for
the very important control of light, moisture,
temperature, and ventilation.

Highway Patrol
At Top Strength
On Thanksgiving
Atlanta — Another massive
traffic enforcement drive will be
carried out in Georgia by the
State Highway Patrol during the
current Thanksgiving holiday
period, it was announced by Col.
H. Lowell Conner, director of the
Georgia Department of Public
Safety.
Beginning at 6 P. M. Wednes
day, Nov. 22. the co-ordinated
safety campaign will continue
through .midnight Sunday, Nov.
26. a total of 102 hours.
Based on Georgia’s traffic ac
cident experiences over the past
Thanksgiving holiday periods and
on present trends, the State Pa
trol predicts that at least 21 per
sons will be killed and another
160 will be injured in 543 traffic
accidents occurring this year.
“We hope our prediction won’t
come true," declared Col. Con
ner. “We will be out on the roads
at maximum strength, working
overtime, using every method we
know of to try to prevent even
one serious accident from occur
ring.”
All available personnel and
equipment will be pressed into
service, the director said. Regular
patrolling units will be augment
ed with GBI agents and head
quarters personnel. Radar and
speed timing machines will be
used extensively and roadblocks
will be set up at unannounced
points.
“Our troopers will be any
where and everywhere we think
they can do the most good in
holding down traffic accidents
and resultant deaths,” Col. Con
ner emphasized: “They will per
form their duties courteously but
they have strict orders to be firm
with violators. We are out to get
the reckless, foolhardy drivers.
We are determined to maintain
safety on the roads.”
