RADIATION CHANGES FRUIT
Gamma radiation has caused
changes in fruit color and in
creased plant vigor in experi
ments at he Georgia Experiment
Station near Griffin, reports
Horticulturist B. O. Frye, The re
search scientist says the process
has also made it possible to make
crosses between grape species
such as the muscadine and bunch
grape. He expects it to take a
bout 15 to 20 years to produce
a grape plant that has character
istics of both muscadine and
bunch grapes.
