Emergency Self Help
Program Gets Boost
In Training Program
Georgia’s Program of Medical Self
Help Training got a shot in the arm
last week with a Statewide distribu
tion to local health departments of
600 Medical Self Help Training kits.
The program is part of a national
Civil Defense plan to supply the pub
lic with adequate preparatory infor
mation as a key to survival in time of
national disaster. The newly revised
kits are available to all groups inter
ested in conducting Medical Self
Help Training Programs in their own
local communities.
Each training kit, complete in a
•ompact carrying case, contains
teaching instructions, film strips, and
student materials for teaching emer
gency procedure when medical care
is not available. Eleven film strips,
given in one-hour lessons, cover em
ergency procedure in vital areas
such as radioactive fallout and shel
ter. care of the sick and injured, and
sanitation. A projector and screen
are included in the larger of two ty
pes of kits now being distributed. All
persons completing the Medical Self
Help Training Program receive di
plomas. The training course also can
serve as complement in American
Red Cross First Aid classes.
Georgia families can be prepared
to be self sufficient in health care
during time of national disaster. Dis
tribution of these kits will enable
local health departments to increase
the number of training programs
now available within a community.
Further information on the sched
uling of a Medical Self Help Program
for local classes can be obtained
from any of the 157 local health de
partments throughout the State.

"As a builder, I find more people than ever
want electric homes. As a homeowner, I
chose all-electric myself."
Then Mr. Eady adds with a grin, “Maybe I
should say my wife chose an all-electric home.
She wouldn’t settle for anything less.”
The Eadys use resistance heating. They
like the individual thermostats which let
them control room temperatures separately.
Mrs. Eady says, “The house stays cleaner
with electric heat. I don’t have to dust as
often. Cooking is a pleasure — and plenty of
hot water speeds other chores.”
