At our sale last Friday, hog prices were as
follows: RI, $18.53; LI, $18.51; Hl, $17.26; No.
2, $17.05; No. 3, $16.12; No. 4, $16.25; No. 5,
$16.35; LR, $15.50; HR, $15.10; EHR, $14.52
and males, $8.15.
Heavy cows sold up to $20.00, cows and
calves up to $18.50, light calves up to $26.75,
heavy bulls up to $20.10 and light bulls up to
$24.50.
Station WBSG in Blackshear will broadcast
hog prices Friday afternoon at 3:00 from the
Pierce County Stock Yard.

BRANTLEY COUNTY,
GEORGIA
TAX LEVY FOR THE
YEAR 1963
Resolution and order of the Board
>f Commissioners of Roads and Re
venues, of Brantley County, Geor
gia, levying taxes for the year Nin
teen Hundred and Sixty-Three (1963).
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND
RESOLVED, by the Board of Com
missioners of Roads and Revenues,
of Brantley County, Georgia sitting
for County purposes on this the 2nd
day of July, 1963 that there be and
is hereby levied and assessed for
the year 1963 upon all taxable pro
perty of said County of Brantley
State of Georgia, subject to taxa
tion, same to provide the necessary
revenue and requirements of said
County, the following taxes for the
following purposes, to-wit:
1. To pay the expenses of the ad
ministration of the County Govern
ment — One and 5-10ths Mills.
2. To pay the principal and in
terest of any debts of the County
and to provide a sinking fund there
for — Two Mills.
3 To build and repair the public
buildings and bridges — Nine and
l-10ths Mills.
4. To pay the expense of the
Courts, the maintenance and sup
port of prisoners and to pay sher
iffs and coroners and for expense
of litigation — One and 5-10th Mills.
5. To build and maintain a sys
tem of Roads (County) — Four
Mills.
6 For public health purposes in
said County, and for the collection
and preservation of records of vital
statistics — Three Mills.
7. To support paupers — One Mill
8. To pay County Agricultural and
Home Demonstration agents — 4-10th
Mills.
9. To provide for the payment of
old age assistance to aged persons
in need, and for the payment of as
sistance to the needy, blind and to
dependent children and other wel
fare benefits, provided that no per
son shall be entitled to the assis
tance herein authorized who does
not qualify for such assistance in
every respect, in accordance with
the enactments of the General As
sembly which may be of force and
effect prescribing the qualifications
for beneficaries hereunder; provid
ed that no indebtedness of liability
against the County shall ever be
created for the purpose herein stat
ed, in excess of the taxes lawfully
levied each fiscal year under the
acts of the General Assembly au
thorized hereunder for such pur
poses — Two Mills.
10 To provide for the creation of
a fund to be used for assisting, pro
moting and encouraging the loca
tion of new industries in said Coun
ty, and for the development of A
griculture, in Brantley County,
Georgia. — One Mill.
11. To provide for Fire Protection,
for Forest lands and to further con
servation of natural resources. —
Two and 5-10ths Mills.
12. Making the aggregate of Two
and 80-tooths Dollars on the One
Hundred Dollars of Taxable pro
perty, of said County of Brantley
execlusive of the levy to pay the
charges for education purposes.
13. To pay charges of educational
purposes, to be levied under strict
compliance with law, and under and
by virtue of the Recommendations
of the Board of Education, of Brant
ley County, Georgia, (which recom
mendations are binding upon the
Commissioners of Roads and Re
venues of this County,) at a meet
ing held on the 10th day of June,
1963, a certified copy of said reso
lution being hereto attached and
annexed immediately following this
page.
RECOMMENDATION OF THE
BOARD OF EDUCATION OF
BRANTLEY COUNTY GEORGIA, to
the Board of Commissioners of
Roads and Revenues, of said Coun
ty, for the levy of taxes for the sup
port and maintenance of education
for the year 1963.
AT REGULAR MEETING, of the
Board of Education of Brantley
County. Georgia, held the 10th of
June. 1963. the following resolution
was presented to said Board, anil
after motion being duly made, se
conded and unanimously carried,
said resolution was regularly adopt
ed.
RESOLVED that the Board of Ed
ucation of Brantley County, Geor
gia, recommend, and it is hereby re
commended to the Board of Com
missioners of Roads and Revenues,
of Brantley County. Georgia, that a
tax for support and maintenance of
education for the year 1963 A. D. of
twenty (20’ mills or twenty dollars
on the one thousand dollars be levi
ed on all taxable property in said
County of Brantley (save that ex
empted by the Constitution and the
Laws of the State of Georgia, as to
personalty and homestead exemp
tions).
This the 10th day- of June. 1963.

lected by the Tax Commissioner of
said County, as provided by law.
