Broome Will Fight Hard
to Save Small County
Representation
If elected representative from Brantley
County, I will do my best to save the small
counties of Georgia from losing their repre
sentation in the legislature.
The January session of the legislature has
been ordered by a district federal court to
reapportion the lower house of the legislature
according to population.
Reapportionment would mean that Brant
ley County, along with many other small
counties, would lose its representative. The
state would be apportioned according to popu
lation, with at least 20,000 people in each dis
trict.
Brantley County with about 6,000 popu
lation would have to be the tail to the kite of
some larger adjoining county, possibly two
other counties.
If elected representative, I will never vote
for any plan to abolish our right to a repre
sentative in the legislature.
The people of Brantley County should
elect the best man fitted to make the fight to
keep our representative.
SANDERS' DREAM:
INDUSTRY GROWTH,
MORE TOURIST sss
ATLANTA - Gov. Carl E.
Sanders, who from the outset of
his administration has been bank
ing on more industrialization and
more tourism to improve Geor
gia’s economy, is still hopeful
those sources will deliver.
He told the “See Georgia First”
Conference, held recently in At
lanta, that his administration is
aiming at a double goal — an in
dustrial development expansion of
sl-billion and a SSOO-million an
nual tourist business in the state.
“It almost goes without saying
home building?
make mine electric...
it's flameless!
Start with a heat pump and build your
self a new concept in home comfort. A
home where you’ll enjoy perpetual spring!
Your electric heat pump will cool, clean,
dehumidify, circulate summer air. In win
ter, it will reverse its cycle to warm your
home. Set the thermostat when the sys
tem is installed. After that, seasonal
changeovers are automatic. Your home
stays cleaner; your family, comfortable.
With our low total-electric rate, the
heat pump costs less than ever to operate.
With our budget billing, your electric bill
stays the same every month.
So go ahead. Step up now to the joy
of total-electric living. You’ll wonder why
you waited so long!

that industry and trade are now
Georgia’s best breadwinners,”
the Governor said.
Tourism is now an estimated
$350-million business in the state.
