The Brantley Enterprise, Nahunta, Ga., Thursday, July 16, 1964
Most families will borrow more than $50,000 in a lifetime!
There’s a startling figure. This includes borrowing to buy
homes, cars, TV sets and appliances, and college educa
tions. □ It’s obvious then, that where you borrow your
money and how much you pay for it is most important. So
it would make sense to get to know a banker who can save
you money on loans. □ Wouldn't it be a good idea to have an acquaintance
with one of our Loan Officers? Then when the time for that major expenditure
arrives, you know whero to go and whom to see for your next installment
loan, at low cost rates. □ One of the many services of our Full Service Bank.

And before we ring in 1965, nearly 2-billion pounds of
Rayonier cellulose will have reached our customers around
the globe... much of it from Fernandina Beach and Jesup.
Who doesn’t?
Fact is, per capita consumption of cellulose is a measure
of a nation’s standard of living. And as you might suspect,
the U. S. leads the world consumption with about 500 lbs.
per person per year!
It’s easy for civilized people to consume cellulose at such
a rapid and ever-growing rate. Because at last count, about
6,000 products were made with it. Rayonier cellulose, for
example, goes into thousands of miles of rayon, billions of
cigaret filters—and into paint, cellophane, plastics, photo
film, explosives and on and on and on.
Very. For instance, many countries’ entire cellulose opera
tions are scarcely larger than those at our Fernandina
Beach or Jesup mills. Some are even smaller. That’s one
reason why Rayonier has become a principal world sup
plier of this versatile raw material. Highly uniform grades
of cellulose travel from our Southeast mills to major users
all over the free world.
It will as long as trees from which it is made can be grown
on planet Earth. Scientific tree farming—like we practice
here in Florida and Georgia—assures a constant supply of
the right kind of wood for cellulose. And at last estimate,
we had planted far more trees than we had harvested.
Take away the Rayonier cellulose?
Not very likely! We produced another 3,500 pounds of it
while you were reading these seven paragraphs.

Baptist Village
Offering to Be
Taken July 19
Baptist Village, Georgia Bap
tists’ ministry for the senior cit
izens, will receive the attention
of 2,994 Baptist churches, when
a special offering will be receiv
ed on Sunday, July 19th.
All of the leaders of the Con
vention, together with the pastors
and local church leaders are look
ing to July 19th as a day when
they can share in this new pro
gram which has been in opera
tion for over six years. The goal
for the offering is $160,000.00.
Receipts will be applied to the
care of two out of three of those
presently residing at Baptist Vil
lage, and also to extend the ser
vice until it reaches a total of
300 people, Administrator Har
vey R. Mitchell said.
During the month of July, The
Christian Index, the Baptist peri
odical, which goes weekly into
120,000 homes, has carried vari
ous items of interest and news
concerning the growing ministry.
This, together with thousands of
pieces of information sent out
from Baptist Village, Waycross,
Georgia, along with letters and
other contacts, will cause literally
hundreds of thousands of mem
bers of the Georgia Baptist chur
ches to be talking about this
much needed and worthy service.
The membership of the church
es of Georgia now stands at 935,-
768 (Nov., 1963). The ideal would
be that every Baptist would have
a part in all that Baptists do.
Therefore, this is a very special
month and this is a very special
date among Georgia Baptists.
Baptist Village is building and
expanding constantly under a
master plan designed for modem
care for 300. Baptists have just
dedicated their newest buildings
which brings the ministry up to
120, now, and has a service cen
ter for the full 300.
Dedication Day was held on
Who uses all that cellulose?
Is Rayonier big in cellulose?
Can the supply last?
June 4th, when a thousand peo
ple gathered to rejoice at the ac
complishment. Visitors go to the
Village daily to see what is being
done. It is easily accessible, in
the southeastern part of Georgia,
inasmuch as Federal Highways
1, 23, 82 and 84 go through Way
cross.
The Village, itself, is located
on State Route 22, just 5 minutes
west of Waycross.
