Cost of Living
BARRY GOLDWATER SAYS: "If the cost
of living continues to rise and the dollar con
tinues to shrink, the savings of our citizens will
be worthless. I'd cut down government spend
ing. And I'd move to keep down the size of
government, too. Further, I'd see to it that we
had a climate once again in America where this
free competitive enterprise system of ours
would flourish, so that real jobs with real
wages would be the answer not only to poverty
but to the problems of inflation and higher
living costs."

To the Citizens of Brantley County
Dear Fellow Citizens:
I feel the most vital issue facing each and every
one of us today is the COMMUNIST CONSPIRACY
TO RULE THE WORLD.
Lenin laid out the blueprint for the Communist
conquest of the world. He said, “First, we will take
Eastern Europe, then the masses of Asia, then we
will encircle that last bastion of Capitalism, the
United States, which we will take without firing a
shot. It will fall into our hands like an over ripe
fruit.”
Capitalism and the Free Enterprise System made
the United States the great nation that it is today.
Why is this so? Because this nation was set up under
the best form of government possible by our
forefathers. This nation is a REPUBLIC. For proof
of this recite the Pledge of Allegiance "I pledge
allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation,
under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for
all.” Let us analyze this Pledge:
1. This nation is a republic.
2. This is one nation.
3. We owe our existence as a nation and as indi
viduals to God, the Supreme Creator and the Great
Architect of the Universe.
4. This nation is indivisible.
5. Liberty which is synonymous with Freedom is
available to all.
6. Justice is available to all.
What is a REPUBLIC ? A REPUBLIC is the best
form of government yet conceived in the minds of
men. A REPUBLIC is governed by one set of laws, in
our case, the Constitution, the protection of which is
available to everyone, the governing and governed
alike.
This REPUBLIC is one nation, sovereign in its own
right and is made up of individual states with certain
rights reserved to them by the Constitution. A sove
reign nation should not take orders from any agency
be it the U. N. or some other nation.
That we owe our existence to God, the Supreme
Creator, the Originator of All Things, is well under
stood by any rational person.
This REPUBLIC is indivisible. Does not the Holy
Bible say a house divided against itself can not
stand ?
Liberty and Freedom are guaranteed to all citizens
by the Constitution and as long as this REPUBLIC
stands they will be available to all ... . But, how
long will this be ? It depends on how long it is before
the American people wake up and see the Communist
threat for what it really is .... It seems to me that
under the Constitution the Civil Rights bill was really
unnecessary .... Could this be the beginning of a
POLICE STATE?
Justice under the Constitution is available to all,
and rightly should be ... . The battle that Lester
Maddox is waging for his survival is not only a per
sonal battle but one that affects each and every one
of us.
Let’s get back to Lenin’s plan for the Communist
conquest of the world. How much of this plan has
been accomplished? The Communist conspiracy now
controls all Eastern Europe. For the most part, they
control the masses of Asia. Now, about the third
part of the plan, the encirclement of the United
States. How much of this has been accomplished.
1. They control Castro’s Cuba and a couple more
South American countries.
2. They have infiltrated every nation in the Wes
tern Hemisphere.
3. There is a very active Communist party here in
the United States.
The general secretary of the Communist Party
USA is none other than Gus Hall. And I ask you,
how many times have you heard or seen our liberal
news media attack this man?
What is the Communist threat to each and every
one of us today? Gus Hall said at the funeral of
Eugene Dennis, the long time general secretary of
the Communist Party USA. “I dream of the hour
when the last congressman is strangled to death by
the guts of the last preacher and since the Christians
love to sing about the blood, why don’t we slit their
throats and their children’s throats give them a
little of it.”
Khruschev very simply said, “We will bury you.”
Is this EXTREMISM ?
Now, let’s think about the United Nations. First
of all, who was the United States representative at
the formation of the U. N. ? None other than Alger
Hiss who was later proved and convicted as a Com
munist.
The U. N. has been in existence for several years.
I ask you one question. Has it stopped the spread of
the Communist conspiracy? It certainly has not.
Russia is 2 years delinquent in paying its assessments
to the U. N. Guess who is footing the bill? You and
me. the American taxpayers.
This line of thought leads me to one conclusion.
Red China should have a seat in the U. N our
seats. The United States, by all means, should get out
of the U. N. as quickly as possible.
Next, let’s think about Foreign Aid. What has it
accomplished? Has it in any way slowed down the
Communist conspiracy to rule the world? Most cer
tainly not. Where is YOUR money going? How is it
being spent? Should we continue to support the Com
munist nations under the guise FOREIGN AID?
There are many other areas into which the Com
munist conspiracy has gained a foothold besides
government. One would, indeed, be foolish to think
the Communist have not infiltrated our greatest
strength as a nation .... our religious heritage. Al-
ready, they have established a strong foothold in
EDUCATION. Now, their liberal coexisting friends
want to get into MEDICINE under the guise of
MEDICARE.
One of the greatest accomplishments of the ex
treme left wingers is the Social Security System. Can
you or I refuse to enter this program ? NO, we can
not. At the moment, on the average, the amount of
money paid into Social Security to provide $1 in bene
fits would purchase on the open insurance market a
bout $2.20 in benefits.
The question of Welfare. Is it not every citizen’s
God given right and priviledge to support and provide
comfort for the aged members of his family? Are
we, too, losing this right? Could this be an attack
to weaken the basic family unit? This is in no way
' meant to imply that a person who actually is in need
of assistance should not receive aid, but I say this,
when in some instances, out of a total of $2.05 spent
by the welfare agency, only $1 goes to the welfare
recipient, there is undoubtedly plenty of room for
cutting expenses. One other question concerning wel
fare. Why must our government make it possible to
have illegitimate children by doling out money for
their support? Yes, you and I, the type of people who
believe in the institution of marriage and live Christ
ian lives are footing the bill.
The Americans for Democratic Action, better
known as the ADA had as one of its cofounders the
man who is now running for vice-President on the
Democratic Party ticket. The ADA has set as its
objective several goals which are the same as those
of the Communist Party, USA. A few of these are :
1. Abolishment of the House Committee on Un-
American Activities.
2. Recognition of Red China as a nation by the
United States.
3. The acceptance of Red China in the U. N.
4. Multilaterial disarmament with the setting up
of a world wide police force under the U. N.
5. Complete Disarmament of the people by 1970.
And on it goes. I shudder to think what would be
come of this great nation should Mr. “ADA” Hum
phrey become President.
Are the Communists a serious threat to us ? Let me
give you some facts and figures. Since World War II
the Communist have taken over the masses of huma
nity at the unbelievable rate of 7,000 people per hour.
This figures to some 900,000,000 souls of which
200,000,000 have been purged or sent off to slave
labor camps to be worked to death.
Fellow citizens, I urge each and every one of you
to study the issues and I believe any American who
has the intestinal fortitude to stand on his own two
feet and think for himself will come to the same
conclusion that I have.
I will, God willing, go to the polls on Nov. 3rd,
and cast my ballot for the REPUBLICAN electors
who will elect BARRY MORRIS GOLDWATER the
next President of the United States. I honestly and
sincerely urge each and every one of you to do the
same.
IN YOUR HEART YOU KNOW HE IS RIGHT.
Sincerely,
Sherman D. Tomlinson
