S. Rep. Russell Tuten re turned to Washington Sunday with a vow to keep up the near perfect attendance record he has established since coming to Con gress. The Sth District Congressman did not miss a single quorum call and only two roll-call votes in 1965. During 1963-64 he answered 92 percent of all roll and quorum calls. “Since legislation is a Congress man’s primary responsibility, I feel it’s my duty to spend as much time on the floor as pos sible,” Rep. Tuten said. “Bills considered by the House are so numerous and complicated, you simply can’t keep up with what’s going on if you’re not there.” Rep. Tuten is in a higher sen. iority position as he resumes his legislative duties — having ad vanced two places on the Mer chant Marine and Fisheries Com mittee during 1965. He is now the 16th ranking Democrat on the 32-member Committee. Since his first term in office, the Congressman has moved up six places — from 19th to 13th — on the Public Works Committee.
