contains the makings of the
finest party you ever had!
Nobody ever claimed the heat pump was pretty.
But, la! it has beautiful manners! Just invite
it to your next party.
A heat pump is shy. So it prefers to sit in
conspicuously in your yard. From there, it will
rid your rooms quickly of tobacco smoke. Also
it will shut out outside noises (and help contain
party noises that might otherwise escape).
But best of all, it keeps your guests cool on
the muggiest nights. In winter, with no nudg
ing from you, it creates a warm atmosphere for
the revelers.
When they leave, it won’t. Your heat pumj
will remain on duty, 24 hours a day, to bring
you permanent springtime. And make your life
a real ball 1

Questions and Answers
on the Bible
BY MRS. GLADYS C. JOHNSON
What does it mean to be
“Unequally Yoked” as found
in II Corinthians 6:14?
One of the prohibitions laid
down by God to the Jewish
people was that “they should
not plow with an ox and an
ass yoked together.” Deuter
onomy 22:11. Probably this
law was given because of the
physical hardship which it
would work upon the animals.
They have a different gait —
are not the same size and
therefore it would be cruel
and unnatural to yoke them
together.
Somewhat of a similar idea
is given by Paul in II Corin
thians 6:14. A Christian —
one who has been bom again
— is DIFFERENT or certain
ly should be. He no longer
thinks as he did before Christ
came into his heart — he
does not enjoy doing the
things which once gave him
so much pleasure — his love
for Christ makes his entire
life different from the man
of the world.
So — Paul says that it is
wrong for the Christian to
become yoked or involved
with the unsaved one. This is
not to say that he is not to
love those who believe other
than he does — but that love
is a divine gift given to the
Christian by God — the only
purpose of which is to win
them to the Christ he serves.
There are many areas of
our lives where this admoni
tion of Paul should be heed
ed. One which touches most
of us very closely is that of
the marriage of the believer
with an unbeliever. How
young people should consider
before they make that all im
portant choice! There is no
thing but heartbreak and sor
row for one who has enjoy
ed the things of God and His
church in a marriage where
the one they love has no con
cern or interest in the Christ
ian life.
However, this teaching
goes even futher than the
marriage relationship. A
Christian is to honor God in
every phase of his life and so
it is possible to become un
equally yoked wiht an un
believer in the business
world. There again difficul-

WILL SERVE HIS DISTRICT,
And Not HIMSELF!
NIG WARREN is a FAMILY MAN; father of five children; a BUSINESSMAN. As such
he is more interested in a better future for every resident in the 6th Senatorial District,
(Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Camden, Jeff Davis, Pierce and Wayne Counties). He
is aware that his successes are tied closely with the progress of his fellow citizens. His
approach to all problems will be in accordance with the GOLDEN RULE.
NIG WARREN has ably served his country in the military service. He will devote the
same effort in defense of the people of your county that he exemplified in defense of his
country. He is firm of faith and convictions and will speak out effectively in behalf of our
God*given rights.
NIG WARREN, as a VETERAN, understands the problems of our ex-servicemen AND
THOSE NOW IN SERVICE. His understanding comes from experience that cannot be
claimed by any other candidate who might oppose him in this race. He will strive to give
EVERY VETERAN the break they rightfully deserve.
ties arise because of the diff
erence in principles and con
duct.
In our social connections,
the Christian is in a postion
where he must say no to
many things. He is to have
nothing to do with a world
which would compromise his
Christian witness. In having a
social relationship with the
unsaved the Christian invites
the devil to set his feet on
the path which leads to the
destruction of his fellowship
with God.
Jesus, in His prayer for the
desciples, (John 17:9,10) says
“I pray not that thou should
est take them out of the
world, but that thou should
est keep them from evil.
They are not of the world,
even as I am not of the
world.”
Christ knew that His de
sciples would have to remain
in the world and mingle with
those who did not believe
in Him. His desire was and
is that we be good witnesses
but not yoked to it — IN the
world but not OF it.

Farmer Reminded to
Work Children Only
Outside School Hours
Savannah, Ga. — With the
start of the school year, farm
ers are reminded that child
ren under 16 may work only
outside school hours. This is
in accordance with the
child labor provisions of the
Fair Labor Standards Act.
“This law helps the mig
rant as well as the local child
to get the education which is
so essential in today’s eco
nomy,” Regional Director
Henry A. Huettner of the
Wage and Hour and Public
Contracts Divisions, United
States Department of Labor,
said today. “A youngster’s
future success depends on the
schooling he gets,” he com
mented.
The need for continued
vigilance is shown by the
Divisions’ findings that child
ren who work on farms dur
ing school hours in violation
of the Fair Labor Standards
Act lag behind other child
ren in their schooling. For
instance, last year almost half
of these young farm workers
were in grades below the nor
mal for their ages. At the age
of 15, almost 7 out of 10 of the
local youth and 9 out of 10
of the migrants were behind
in school grade attainment.
Huettner pointed out that
the Act does not restrict chil
dren who work on the home
farm for their parents or
guardians.
