You Can Be SURE with
NIMMER in the HOUSE
Vote for Steve Nimmer, House of Representatives
District 84, Pierce and Brantley Counties.
A leader
again steps forward.
Ellis Arnall.
Ellis Arnall served this Georgia of ours
once before. Served with dignity and
integrity. Helping usher in a bright new
day for our State. For Ellis Arnall removed
trade barricades. And industry flooded
in with jobs and prosperity for all
Georgians. Badly needed legislation
became reality. The State government
was modernized. The colleges were saved.
The State debt was paid for the first
time in history, without raising taxes.
Ellis Arnall left office a near legend.
People said that here was a man twenty
years ahead of his time. Now the times and
the man have met. For the times again
call for Ellis Arnall to serve the people
of Georgia.

I Questions You Should Ask I
I Roscoe E. Dean, Jr. I
Why Did Roscoe Dean vote to increase the price of our Hunting and
Fishing Licenses? This same vote forces our 16-year old children to
buy licenses to hunt and fish. He promised to fight all bills that would
raise your taxes.
Why did Roscoe Dean not vote on Senate Bill 169 — the Capital
Punishment Bill?
Roscoe Dean makes a big play for the Ministers and Church People.
Yet, he did not vote against Senate Bill 19 which is an act to legalize ■
and control alcoholic beverages and liquors. Does he talk out of both
sides of his mouth?
Why did Roscoe Dean fail to get Senate Bill 159 Passed in the |
Senate? (This was his publicity stunt — the Nudist Bill.)
■ Why did Roscoe Dean vote against House Bill 48 which would have
allowed the state employees to have certain dental care included in
their health insurance plan? Yet, he says he is a friend of the little
man — the working man.
Why didn't Roscoe Dean fight and vote against Senate Bill 56 which
raised one state officials salary up to $22,500 per year, plus travel
expenses? Does Roscoe Dean look after the little man or the big man?
The records show that he did not vote YES or NO on Senate Bills
85 54 9 12 103, 35, 41; House Bill 252, nor 68. (This one raised
some judges'up to $26,500 per year salary.) How many faces does
he have^^? •
- These are recorded facts in the Senate Records in Atlanta. If you >
doubt any one of these, just pick up your phone and call Mrs. Boone
in the office of Secretary of Senate, Atlanta, Georgia.

As all of you know, Pierce and
Brantley Counties now have to
share a State Representative in
the 84th Representative District.
I am a candidate for this most
important office, subject to the
Democratic Primary to be held
in September 14th.
I have always believed that ev
ery county should have at least
one representative. However,
since this is no longer possible,
due to the rulings of the United
States Supreme Court, I am hap
py that the counties of Pierce and
Brantley were placed in the same
district. The two counties have a
lot in common, including family
ties, religious life, and agricul
ture. In fact part of Brantley
County was once a part of Pierce.
1 was oorn in Brantley County,
and have lived there all my life,
except for time I spent in the
C.C.C. camp and the United
States Navy. I am married to the
former Miss Mary Bryan. We
have three children and three
grandchildren.
In 1962, the people of Brantley
County honored me by electing
me State Representative. In 1964,
I was reelected for another 2 year
term. The reapportionment of the
House of Representatives did
HIS VOTING RECORD IS SOUND
Congressman Tuten and Sen. Russell have very similar
voting records. In fact, they have voted "together" 8896
of the time. Since Sen. Russell is widely regarded as the
ablest legislator in the world, and since Rep. Tutenvotes
on most legislation before the Senator does, the similar
ity of their voting records speaks well of the Congress
man's legislative judgment.
HE HAS PROVED HIS ABILITY
Before going to Congress he served as city commissioner
and mayor of Brunswick. He has the background and ex
perience. He is the man for the job. ?
not allow me to serve but one
year to the term I was elected in
1964. While in the House of Rep
resentatives, I served on the
Welfare, Motor Vehicles and State
Institutions and Property Commit
tees. I was vice-chairman of the
Sub-Committee on Juvenile Mat
ters.
I believe that the experience I
have gained while serving as
Brantley County Representative,
plus the fact that I am a native
born son, aware of the needs and
problems of our people, amply
qualifies me to serve as your
representative.
I promise you that I will work
with all of the officials of both
counties in the securing of more
roads, more industry, and more
services for our district.
I am going to make a special
effort to see each of you, and dis
cuss my platform with you. If I
for some reason do not get a
chance to talk with you in per
son, please accept this as a per
sonal appeal for your vote and in
fluence.
Sincerely
HOKE S. WILSON 9-1
HE HAS THE RESPECT OF HIS COLLEAGUES
Speaking to the Valdosta Chamber of Commerce, Sen. Richard B. Russell
said that Congressman Tuten "is doing a great job for you in Washington."
The Senator added: "There's nothing flashy about Russell Tuten. But be
has both feeton the ground and has made a decided impression on his associ
ates ... by his possession of two great attributes that you can't get through
any amount of education - common sense and integrity. He's a fine Con
gressman. " Photo at top shows Rep. Tuten (center) and the Senator (right)
getting off plane at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta.
Sen. Herman Talmadge has praised Rep. Tuten as a man who does hit
homework and has the courage, honesty and sincerity to say "yes" or "no"
andhave it stick. "I know of no member of Congresswho has made such aa
outstanding record in such a short time," he declared. Photo on left shows
Sen. and Mrs. Talmadge being welcomed at St. Simons Island Airport by
Rep. and Mrs. Tuten on Talmadge Appreciation Day.

HE IS MOVING UP IN SENIORITY
No state has benefited more from seniority in the Con
gress than Georgia. Men like Senator George, Talmadge
and Russell have been of real service to their state be -
cause the people let them stay in Washington long enough,
to build up seniority. Rep. Tuten has advanced in sen
iority on two major committees of the House: The Pub
lic Works Committee and die Merchant Marine and Fish
eries Committee. The more seniority he has, the better
he will be able to serve us.
HE STAYS ON THE JOB
He has one of the best attendance records in Congress.
He missed only two of 383 roll call votes during 1965.

BUSY BEES
The Crop Reporting Service
says there were 200,000 colonies
of honey bees in Georgia July 1.
Some colonies were lost due to
the severe, cold winter and the
wet spring. However, the replace
ment rate for lost colonies was
high, and this helped maintain
colony numbers for the season.
