CHARMED LIVES
"Though I walk through the val
ley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil..."
A child once asked his father,
"Daddy, why does it get dark?”
Knowing that his son was too
young to understand about the ro
tation of the earth, the father
answered, “It gets dark so that
we will love the light.”
The father’s answer is full of
the kind of truth we need for the
living of the Christian life. Often
times, clouds and shadows drive
people away from God. The op
posite should be true. In our trou
bles we ought to be able to
see our need for God more clear
ly. We ought to more fully appre
ciate the light.
Consider Jesus. He is One who
lived in the light of God’s love.
He also knew how to cope with

We really don’t know. When you rent a Safe Deposit Box,
only you have access to it.
The wise people who have Safe Deposit boxes like to keep
important valuables, bonds, and irreplaceable papers there.
They can relax, knowing they are safe from theft, fire or loss.
A Safe Deposit Box costs only pennies a day.

the darkness of man’s hate. Fac
ing the death that his disciples
did not yet know about, He told
them, “I go to prepare a place
for you.” Darkness immediately
ahead, yet affirming future hap
piness, Jesus could see the light
beyond the dark. He knew H e
could walk the “lonesome valley”
and not fear the torture, the hu
miliation, or the death that would
find Him in those shadows. Jes

My friend, Jesus offers you a
charmed life. He offers you
strength for walking in the dark.
He offers you faith for seeing
through the dark. He offers you
love that you may know you are
not alone. He offers you a wit
ness with which to save others
from the dark. He offers you
character so that you will not
surrender to the dark. Thank God
for the charmed life that He gives
us through Jesus Christ.

Do something
about it!
Riots in our cities, violence and crime in
our streets are leading us down the road to
destruction. Our Federal Government
cannot, and should not try to, control the
personal freedoms of the people. The LBJ
Great Society programs are being forced
on the people by arm-twisting and party
voting. We can stop this foolishness with
only a few more Republican
votes in Congress! <^BBB

PARASITE DAMAGE
Parasites on dairy cattle cost
Georgia farmers millions of dol
lars each year. Dairy scientists
with the Cooperatve Extension
Service point out that these pests
irritate the cows, suck blood, re
duce weight gain and milk pro
duction, and can, at times, even
cause death of the animals.
NOTHING EVER HAPPENS
A YOUNG MAN once left our employ
because “nothing ever happened/* To us
this was a compliment because it indicated
that our funeral home was functioning in
the smooth and quiet manner a funeral
home should. Mistakes generate excitement
which may be appealing to young blood
but not to a bereaved family and their
friends. A dedicated, competent staff works
so unobtrusively that people are never a
ware of the results they obtain. And so,
in away it’s true- Around here “nothing
ever happens.”

BEES SICK
Rodney Coleman, Extension
Service entomologist, says the
poor condition of bee colonies
in North Georgia is due main
ly to lack of food, not a gen
eral disease problem. He points
out that weather conditions in
the mountains have not been
favorable for many of the
plants that provide pollen and
nectar for bees.
