Feels like spring
Flameless electric heating fills your home with
springtime comfort on the most wintry days.
Cold drafts stay outside where they be
long. No hot blasts, either. For electric heat
is an even heat. Quiet, too. No rumbling
on-off noises.
Since an electric heating system uses only
electricity, there are no by-products of com
bustion. No smoke. No soot. No grime.
Jnly a clean, carefree home.
With our special total-electric rate, this
most modern of heating methods is so eco
nomical. And with our budget billing, your
electric bill is the same every month.
Choose electric heat for your home. Makes
for a snug winter. Makes for a smug home
owner. Try to be modest.

While Medicare is running
smoothly in most respects,
there are still some points of
confusion. This word came to
day from O. L. Pope, District
Manager of the Waycross So
cial Security Office. In making
this announcement, Pope paid
tribute to the excellent coop
eration area physicians and
hospitals have shown in get
ting Medicare off to a good
start.
People covered by Medicare
generally understand they
must pay the first forty dollars
of hospital costs and must pay
all the cost of personal com
fort items such as TV and
telephones. Another item that
seems to be generally under
stood is that a person must
pay the difference in rates

The high speed durability of to

significant development in tire
safety technology in years.
To prove this superior tough
ness, rayon police tires were com
pared with nylon police tires at
the Nevada Automotive Test
Center.

room for his own convenience
instead of the semi-private
room covered by Medicare.
“Medicare payments for ser
vices of hospital-based physi
cians is not so well understood
and has caused problems for
same area hopitals,” Pope said.
Before Medicare a patient
often received services of
hospital-based physician such
as a pathologist (for labora
tory services, for example) or
radiologist without realizing
he had received these services.
This caused no problem before
Medicare since the charges for
these necessary services were
included and paid for as a
part of the hospital bill.
Under Medicare these
charges must be separated and
billed for separately, since
physician’s services are not
covered as a part of hospital
charges. They are covered un
der the supplemental doctor
bill insurance, however, if the
person has signed up for this.
To meet this problem, same
hospitals and doctors have de
cided to have entirely separate
billing, leaving the collection
for these so-called hidden but
necessary charges up to the
doctor. Others have continued
to have a joint agreement for
the hospital to bill patients
and collect charges on behalf
of the doctor. These arrange
ments take many forms but
a commonly used one is for
a hospital to bill patients
for a percentage of the labora
tory fees, etc., as the charge of
the doctor for the particular
case.
Pope pointed out that some
people have contacted his of
fice and indicated they felt
the hospitals and doctors were
just finding away to collect
more money. Pope emphasized
that this is not the case. He
suggested that persons may
wish to contact their own doc
tor or local hospital for a full
er explanation of a specific
charge.

Surprisingly, advanced rayon tire

WHERE DOES RAYONIER
COME IN?
Rayonier is very interested in tire
cord and tire safety. We work very
closely with the rayon industry to
produce advanced grades of chem
ical cellulose, the basic raw ma
terial in today’s rayon cord tires.
It’s such special markets as tire
cord which draw upon our forest,
mill and research resources and
thus help to provide good steady
jobs in the Southeast, the Pacific
Northwest and British Columbia.
