Farm Bureau
Urges Vote in
2 Referendums
The Georgia Farm Bureau
Federation this week issued a
last minute appeal to growers
urging voting in the two cotton
referendums scheduled Dec.
4-9.
William L. Lanier, President
of the Georgia Farm Bureau
Federation, advised cotton
growers that the two referen
dums are separate even though
both involve cotton.
“Cotton growers will actual
ly have the opportunity to cast
two ballots”, Lanier said. One
referendum will decide the fate
of the national cotton research
and promotion program, and
the other will decide the fate
of the upland cotton marketing
quota program, he said.
Should growers approve of
the national cotton research
and promotion program, a
positive program would be
mounted with a hope of en
larging cotton’s markets and
lowering costs of production.
The program would be finan
ced by $1 per bale assessment

KEEP ASH TRAYS
IN EVERY ROOM
At Christmas time, make
sure you have ash trays in
every room of your home, and
large ones, too. And empty
them often.
If you have holiday guests,
make sure ash trays are placed
in their rooms, says the Ameri
can Insurance Association.
Ash trays should be made of
metal, glass, ceramics, or some
other non-combustible mater
ial.
Every fifth fire in the United
States is caused by matches
or smoking, the Association
adds.
Baby Sitter Should
Know What to Do
In Case of Fire
If you expect to be out for
an evening during the Christ
mas holiday season, be sure to
employ a baby sister who is
responsible and who knows

Zantrel® rayon, a product of American Enka, is made from highly purified and specialized grades of chemical cellulose produced by Rayonier.
Here’s another remarkable modem fiber to look for
when you next shop for clothing or household fur
nishings. Its basic material is highly purified and
specialized grades of Rayonier chemical cellulose,
which starts Zantrel off with built-in high quality.
Zantrel is a product of American Enka, a
Rayonier customer. The more people are brought
face to face with products like Zantrel, the better
for Rayonier and its communities.
You the end user, the ultimate consumer, are
what to do in case of fire, says
the American Insurance Asso
ciation.
She should be told that if
fire occurs, she is to get the

And she should be told that

appears to be a trivial one.
If she lives in a residential
community of one-family

closest neighbor’s house, and
ask the neighbor to call the

king pin. You and you alone decide which products
survive and who gets the business. Rayonier, like
all industry, is dependent upon free choice in the
market place.
This market freedom also dictates how much
work we can provide; what prices and wages we
can pay; and the extent to which we can help sup
port our plant communities. If the consumer
rejects a product based on Rayonier cellulose,
we’re in trouble.
If the baby sitter and chil
dren are in an apartment, they
should leave the building im
mediately and alert someone
— the superintendent or a pa
trol-man if available — that
there is a fire in the apart
ment, so that they may turn
in a fire alarm.

To avoid this kind of trouble, Rayonier invests
heavily to provide big, new advances in chemical
cellulose - materials which can survive the fierce
competition of the market place with superior new
products like Zantrel.
We think you’ll like Zantrel products. They’re
washable, strong, durable, exceedingly handsome
and sensibly priced. Try a fabric made from
Zantrel. We think you’ll be thoroughly pleased.
