Hoboken Man
Killed as Car,
Truck Collide
A Hoboken man was killed
and two Savannah men in
jured in a head-on collision
of an auto and tractor-trailer
east of the Satilla River Bridge
on U. S. 82 in Pierce County
last Saturday morning.
Jerry Williams Jacobs, 20, of
Route 1, Hoboken, was killed
instantly in the accident, the
State Patrol reported.
Nobody, but nobody, has a range
that thinks. But thinking women
are switching to electric cooking.
With today’s amazing technology, you’d think
there’d be a range that does everything.
Courage I An electric range comes very close.
However, you still must plan the meals and
do the bossing.
Now, bossing here simply means setting the
controls on your electric range. Then the range
takes over.
It perks your coffee before you get up. Buzzes
you when the tempting roast is done. With an
automatic time clock, your electric oven cooks
meals while you’re out of the kitchen, out of
the house. Some surface units stir sauces and
gravies, automatically. In many models, ovens
clean themselves.
And you know flameless electric ranges cook
the cleanest, quickest, coolest way possible.
Think on all those advantages. And you’ll
cook on a modern electric range.

struck the truck driven by
Crawford head-on. According
to investigators, the auto skid
ded about 100 feet after the
impact.
Cpl. Griffin said the auto

Egg Size and
Quality Are
Not the Same
“The bigger the egg, the bet
ter the egg.”
This is the assumption of
many consumers, but it’s of
ten not true! Size and quality
of eggs are not related — they
are entirely different. Large
or small eggs may be either
high or low in quality.
The consumer and Market
ing Service of the U. S. De
partment of Agriculture checks
eggs for quality and size un
der a voluntary grading pro
gram. Egg processors must re
auest and pay for this ser
vice if they wish to use it.
Officially graded cartons of
eggs carrv the USDA shield,
which indicates grade (qual
ity) and size.
Size is based on minimum
weight per dozen. The sizes
consumers find most frequent
ly are Extra large (27 oz. per
dozen), Large (24 oz. per doz
en), and medium (21 oz. per
dozen). Sizes seen less often
are Jumbo (30 oz. per dozen),
small (18 oz. per dozen) and
peewee (15 oz. per dozen).
USDA consumers grades for
egg Quality are U.S. Grade AA
(or Fresh Fancy). A, and B.
The higher Quality eggs, AA
and A, when broken out have
a round, firm yolk and a high,
thick white. These eggs are
good for all purposes, especial
ly for frying or poaching
where appearance is impor
tant. Broken'-out B-quality
eggs may have a slightly
flattened yolk and a small a
mount of thick white. Grade
B eggs are suitable for gen
eral cooking and baking.
