'Bye Bye Birdie'
To Be Presented
in Alma May 2
Sixty singers, actors, dancers
and musicians of Bacon Coun
ty will appear in the Broad
way musical comedy, “Bye
Bye Birdie” in Alma, Friday,
May 2, at 8:30 P. M.
“Bye Bye Birdie” is a fund
raising project of the Alma
Exchange Club, and all 40
members of the Club have
been laboring at the projec'
for the last six weeks.
Leading roles are performed
by Joyce DeLoach. Doug Har
ris, Patsy Taylor, Peggy King
Vicki Vonier, Larry Porter
Roy Porter, Lynn Lanier, Lil
lian Bennett, Ree Crosby.

Johnson.
“Bye Bye Birdie” is a musi
cal comedy, complete with an
orchestra, scenery, lighting,
and costumes. The story re
volves around a popular rock
and roll singer’s going into
the army and the catastrophic
happenings that occur as a
result.
Making a
Dressing Table
BY SUSAN BATTEN
There are three steps involv
ed in making a dressing table
for your room. The things you
will need are plywood, (the
length and width you want it,
but at least an inch thick)
formica, table legs, (at least
28 to 30 inches long), paint
brush, wellwood contact glue,
tacks, curtain tops or cloth for
the table skirt.
1. First glue the formica to
the plywood, start by putting
the glue around the edges of
the formica and plywood and
then in the middle and smooth
it out to the sides. Continue
doing this for about 30 min
utes.
2. Next put the legs on the
table. The legs may be bought
at the hardware store. Screws
will be included to use to at
tach them to the table top.
3. Last, add the skirt to the
table top. The skirt can be
either short or long to suit
your taste. Case curtains may
be used. For added attraction
the curtains may be used for
a window finish also. If you
prefer you can make the skirt
with fabric which can be
pleated and attached with
decorator tacks.
This attractive and easy to
make dressing table can be
