Resolution and order of the
Board of Commissioners of
Brantley County, Georgia,
levying taxes for the year
Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-
Nine (1969).
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED
AND RESOLVED, by the
Board of Commissioners of
Brantley County, Georgia, sit
ting for County purposes on
this the 12th day of Septem
ber, 1969, that there be and
is hereby levied and assessed
for the year 1969, upon all
taxable property of said
County of Brantley, State of'
Georgia, subject to taxation,
same to provide the necessary |
revenues and requirements of;
said jQpupty,..the : following
ptlrpdses, to-wit:
1. To pay theexpenses of
the admjnistration of the
Couhty Government one-tenth
mills.
2. To pay the principal and
interest Os any debts of the
County and to provide a sifik-
ing fund .therefore two-tenths
mills.’
3. To build and repair the
public buildings and bridges
four-tenths mills.
4. To pay the expenses of
the Courts, and maintenances
and support of prisoners and
to pav sheriff’s and coroner’s
and for expense of litigation
one and three-tenths mills.
5. To build and maintain a
system of Roads (County) 4
and five-tenths mills.
6. For public health pur
poses in said County, and for
the collection and preserva
tion of records of vital sta
tistics seven-tenths mills.
7. To support paupers one
tenth mills.
8. To pay County Agricul
tural and Home Demonstra
tion Agents four-tenths mills.
9. To provide for the pay
ment of old age assistance to
aged persons in need, and for
the payment of assistance of
the needy, blind and to depen
dent children and other welfare
benefits, provided that no per
son shall be entitled to the
assistance herein authorized
who does not qualify for such
assistance in every respect, in
accordance with the enact
ments of the General Assem
bly which may be of force
and affect prescribing the
qualifications for beneficiaries
hereunder; provided that no

14. Making a total in the
aggregate to twelve and four
ty-one hundred dollars ( $12.-
40) on the one thousand dol
lars, of taxable property of
said Brantley County, Geor
gia, exclusive of the levy
to pay charges for education
all purposes and to pay school
bonds.
15. To pay charges for ed
ucational purposes and to
pay levied only in strict com
pliance of law, and under and
by virtue of the recommenda
tion of The Board of Educa
tion, of Brantley County,
Georgia, at a meeting held on
the 12th day of September,
1969, a certified copy of said
resolution being hereto an
nexed immediately following
this paragraph, and being the
page immediately following
this page.

County, for the levy of taxes
for the support and mainten
ance of education for the year
1969.
AT A MEETING, of the
t Board of Education of Brant
: 'ey County, Georgia, held on
■ the 12 day of September, 1969,
the following resolution was
presented to said Board, and
after motion being duly made,
' seconded and unanimously car
| ried, said resolution was re
gularly adopted.
RESOLVED That the Board
of Education of Brantley
County, Georgia, recommended
and it is hereby recommended
to the Board of Commissioners
iof Road and Revenues, of
; Brantley County, Georgia, that
; a tax for support and main
i tenance of education for the
year 1969 A. D. of 9% Mills
or $9.50 Dollars on the One
Thousand Dollars be levied on
all taxable property in said
County of Brantley (save that
exempted by the Constitution
and the Laws of the State of
Georgia, as to personal and
i homestead exemption), and
i 1 Mills be levied on taxable
property in said County of
Brantley as provided by the
Constitution and the Laws of
■ the State of Georgia to retire
j the Bond indebtedness.

by ordered and resolved by
the Board of Commissioners of
Brantley County, Georgia,
that for the support and main
tenance, of Public Education
for 1969 of 9 and one-half mills
or ($9.50) dollars on the one
thousand dollars be levied on
all taxable property in said
county of Brantley and the
State of Georgia, (save and
except that exempted by the
constitution and laws of the
State of Georgia, as to exemp
tions as to personality and
Homestead).
And, in further full com
pliance the resolution of the
Board of Education aforesaid,
there hereby levied one (1)
Mills on the taxable property in
said State and County as
provided by the Constitution,
and the laws of the State of
Georgia, to retire the bonded
indebtness incurred, by said
Brantley County, Georgia
Board of Education.

Mrs. J. Loy Scott, was mar
ried to Norman E. Briggs, of
St. Marys, Saturday evening,
Sept. 27, at 3:00 o’clock, at the
First United Methodist Church,
Blackshear. Rev. Scott the
bride’s father performed the
ceremony.
The organist was Mrs. Lu
cille Slater, Waycross. The
soloist was Mrs. Milton Waters,
Blackshear. She sang “En
treat Me Not to Leave Thee”,
and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
James Loy Scott, Jr., Au
gusta, the bride’s brother gave
the bride away.
The bride’s dress was made
of peau de soie, overlaid with
silk organza. The high, empire
waist was made of imported

chantilly lace. It featured a
scalloped neckline and medal
lions of lace were highlighted
with seed pearls. The long,
bouffant sleeves of lace ended
with a tight fitting cuff at
the wrist. The A-line skirt of
the gown was sprinkled with
chantilly medallions and pearls
from the bodice to the hem
line. The back skirt began in
soft gathers under a large,
flat bow and flowed into a
chapel train.
Her veil was French illu
sion, elbow length, centered
with rosettes high-lighted with
stamens of seed pearls and pet
als of silk organza.
The matron of honor was
Mrs. Tom Darrah, the bride’s
sister of Atlanta. The matron’s
dress was floor length of gold
romance bridal satin; long
bouffant sleeves, empire waist;
gold satin bow in back
with floor-length streamers.
The head piece was of match
ing gold double veil attach
ed to gold satin bow. Her bou
quet was of bronze mums with
green velvet tubing as
streamers.
The bridesmaids were Miss
Carol Duffy, LaGrange Col
lege, and Mrs. Joey Lanier,
St. Marys. The junior brides
maids were Vicki Darrah, At
lanta, and Miss Gale Briggs,
St. Marys. The bridesmaids
dresses were the same as the
matron of honor. The flower
girl was Kim Darrah. The best
man was Edward Briggs, fath
er of the groom, from St.
Marys.
The Ushers were: Dennis
Herbert, Joey Lanier, Reggis
Landrum, and Roger Greg
ory.
The bride’s mother’s dress
was of street length, apple
green, brocade taffeta two
piece suit with short sleeves
and matching accessories. Her
flower was a white cymbidium
orchid.
The reception was held in
the church social hall with
Mrs. Mark Hamilton, Miss Lib
by Van Daloem, Miss Paulette
Williams, Mrs. Reggie Lan
drum, serving. At the bride’s
book was Miss Martha Bran
nen.
Floating hostesses were Mrs.
Loran Jordan and Mrs. Clif
ford Park.
The bride’s traveling outfit
was a three piece avocado
green knit suit with long slee
ves • and bright green, trim
brown accessories. The flow
er was the white orchid from
her bouquet.
Following the wedding, the
couple left for Gatlinburg,
Tenn., on their wedding trip
The out-of-town guests
were: Mr. and Mrs. Mark
Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. O. R.
Landrum, Mr. and Mrs. Law
ton Murray, and Mrs. Tom
