Made Available
In 19 Counties
Washington. D. C. — Rep.
W. S. (Bill) Stuckey, Jr., an
nounced that the Secretary of
Agriculture has made avail
able emergency loans for
farmers in 19 counties in the
Bth District through June 30,
1970.
Bep. Stuckey had earlier cal
led on the Secretary for an
investigation of crop damage
in various counties of the Bth
District due to the bad weath
er conditions throughout the
growing and harvesting sea
son.
Stuckey urged the Secreta
ry that should the investiga
tion prove as he (Stuckey)
thought it would that an e
mergency situation be de
clared and those counties be
declared eligible for emergen
cy loans.
“I am happy to see the ac
tion which has been taken by
the Department of Agricul
ture,” Rep. Stuckey stated.
“Our farmers need these loans
to bring them out from un
der the crisis they suffered
last summer.”
The counties designated as
eligible for loans are: Appling,
Atkinson. Bacon, Brantley,
Cook. Coffee, Ware, Echols, Ir
win Jeff Davis, Lanier, Lown
des, Pierce, Telfair, Wayne,
Wilcox.

Georgia law states “Any
person who shall hunt upon
the lands of another, or en
ter upon the lands of another
in pursuit of wildlife, with or
without a license, without
first obtaining permission
from such landowner or lessee
of the land or lessee of the
game rights of the land, shall
be 'guilty of a misdemeanor
and nunished as provided by
law.”

Superior Court
Term in Session
The December term Pierre
Court was in session this
week with Judge Ben Hodges
presiding.
A divorce case was being
tried Wednesday and several
indictments had been return
ed by the Grand Jury, which
was still in session Wednes
day morning.
The case of Eddie Murchi
son charged with murder in
the fatal shooting of Frank
Williams on Feb. 1. was sched
l^d to be called for trial this
week.
Indictments included: C. L.
Strickland, burglary; Irvin
Rozier, Herbert Daniel Davis
and Talmadge Eugene Carter,
criminal damage to property
in the second degree; Eugene
Harris and Sammy Higgins,
escape; and Larry J. Stanfield,
arson in the third degree.
