Shouldn’t your kitchen
be as modern as you are?
Our Home Service staff can help.
Some kitchens seem to shrink as families grow larger and
appliances are added. Other kitchens just happen. They’re
not designed for the modern women who use them.
Whatever your kitchen problems may be, our Home
Service staff can help. They'll design a kitchen especially
for you, with ease and efficiency built right in. They’ll
show you how to care for your electric appliances and
how to make your appliances work for you.
But our experts don’t confine themselves to the
kitchen. They'll gladly advise you on decorative or accent
lighting for any room. Help you plan a convenient
laundry center or an improved wiring system. And their
skilled services are yours for the asking.
So, when you have questions about kitchen remodel
ing. electric appliances or home lighting—call a Georgia
Power home economist. She has the answers.

During the past two years the prime interest rate has jumped
from 6% to 8%. This high interest rate policy was part ot the
administration’s fight against inflation, but rather than curb in
flation it has caused the consumers and the small businessmen
to suffer.
The higher interest rates paid by the manufacturers, distrib
utors, transporters, retailers, and all others involved in the pro
duction and marketing processes tend to become part ot the end
cost of the product, thereby adding to the growth of inflation,
because it has caused the price the customer has to pay to
increase.
I have joined with more than 120 of my fellow Representa
tives in the Congress in sponsoring a Concurrent Resolution that
it is the sense of the Congress that the administration should
make every effort to reverse its policy of high interest rates in all
programs and at all levels. The Resolution also calls for the
Federal Reserve Board to take steps to gradually roll the prime
interest rate back to 6 percent.
This action is long overdue and comes after months of un
necessarily high interest rates. Hearings have been held and 1
expect that action will be taken before the House of Representa
tives soon, r

A Bream Bed
There’s no angler much hap
pier at this season of the year
perhaps, than a bream fisher
man. For this month, more
than any other, is the time
you will find him buying
crickets by the dozen, bob
bers by the half dozen, and
not to mention split shot and
tiny wire hooks.
The happiest bream fisher
man of all is the one who has
a nice private pond staked
out, where he has permission
to fish and where he knows
some good bedding spot where
the bream run up to a pound
or better in size. For all the
Hullaboo created by bass and
trout anglers the bream goes
by the boards pretty much
unheralded by many. Yet pro
bably more anglers seek him
than any other fish. Certainly
he is the most wide spread
and cooperative of all our fin
ny foes.
I will make no secret about
the fact that the first fish I
ever caught was a bream and
while I spend considerably
less time in search of him
than other species, there is
still no thrill to me like seeing
that bobber dive for the bot
tom of the lake knowing I
am in for a good scrap with a
bream or shellcracker. Os
course, to get the real enjoy
ment out of bream fishing to
my way of thinking and also
that of many anglers, light
tackle is the only answer.
But try telling that to a boy
of 8 or 9 who has only a long
limber cane pole and the bear
essentials of tackle. I dare
you to say you will have more
fun than he will.
The bream was probably
created more for the young
sters than any other fisherman.
Certainly he helped to create
more anglers than all other
fish combined, because as
previously pointed out, he can
be found everywhere and he
will take just about any kind
of live bait plus artificial
AMERICATHE
BEAUTIFUL?
That's the way we found it. Almost five centuries
ago. A technicolor world of blue water and purple
mountain ranges.. .green forests and gleaming
white beaches. And of course, it still could be that
way. One trouble is, some of us get careless occa
sionally about littering up this lovely land of ours.
Little individual acts of tossing and discarding that
result in a lot of unsightliness. That's why we hope
that motorists, fishermen, picnickers, hunters—all
of us, in fact—become anti-litter conscious. Let's
take the time to preserve the timeless beauty of
our country.

One of the big benefits of
this particul type fishing is
that regardless of the kind of
tackle you have, you have the
right kind for bream fishing
And one of the most impor
tant, perhaps, is a well-educa
ted nose with which to smell
out a bream bed. My person
al preference is for an ultra
light spinning outfit, or a
light fly rod. The fly rod,
however, works best with an
ultra-light spinning reel taped
to the handle with a monofili
ment line which allows you
to cast your float and bait
easily. Now if you can top
that for the finest in sport e
quipment, I would sure like
to hear about it.
