LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Majority Bads Nixon's Policy
BY CARL BROOME
It is my belief that a majority of the people
the United States backs President Nixon’s plan
end the war in Vietnam.
To this end he has ordered a drive into Cambodia
to destroy the enemy and his vast store of arms
and supplies which for years has sanctuary there.
A recent poll of Georgians revealed that a vast
majority of the people of this state approve the
drive into Cambodia. U. S. Forces, aided by South
Vietnam units, have already captured more than
eight million rounds of ammunition, millions of guns,
rockets and machine guns; also thousands of tons of
rice and other food supplies.
All these supplies of war would have been used
against our boys in Vietnam. As one G1 said, “Many
of these bullets would have had our names on them.”
Cambodia and Laos have been safe heavens for
the enemy for years. They would attack our boys,
then sneak back across the border to safety. Now
they are being smacked in the rump where it hurts.
The mistake is that they were not hit sooner.
It is my belief that the drive into Cambodia will
help to shorten the war by denying the enemy his
hit-and-run tactics.
