In Washingion
Today, it is more important than ever before that our young
people have an understanding of our government. When so many
students are determined, not only NOT to work within the sys
tem, but to overthrow it, we question where have we fallen
short with our young people.
It is refreshing to meet college students from our Bth District.
It is encouraging to see that they want to understand their gov
ernment and its workings. The Bth District Summer College
Intern program gives students an opportunity to work within the
structure and learn firsthand the workings ot the Congress. 1
only wish there were more space, time and money in order that
we could have many more ot our students working in Washington.
The two young people who have been selected and will be in
Washington this summer are Miss Janice Gregory of St. Simons
Island and Mr. David A. Cook of Cochran. I look forward to
working with Janice and David and getting their ideas on their
government.
