Prepared by members of thr Extension Service horticulture and agronomy departments, the publications are a part of the “Green Thumb Tips for the Urban Gardener” series and are available from county Ex tension Service agents. Growing annual flowers with any degree of success de oends on several factors. Top ics covered in the flower publi cation include location and soil preparation, planting times, sowing seed outdoors, setting started plants, water ing, mulching, cultivation and fertilization. Recommendations for weed control in Georgia lawns is discussed in the second publi cation. It contains a section on seeded and sprigged lawn grasses and a chart showing various weeds, control appli cation time, type of herbicide and recommended instructions on rate and use of chemicals to control weeds.
