. . . and adds its own special brilliance to dazzling
Phipps Plaza. With three floors of fashion flair, the new
store is largest of Lord & Taylor’s 13 branches and the
first in the South.
It’s all-electric. From fashion boutiques to interior

Bird Cage restaurant and the beauty salon. Electricity is
the energy for all lighting, heating, cooling and cooking.
The atmosphere of a fine specialty store is one of
leisurely, luxurious comfort. And one component of such
an atmosphere is clean, quiet, reliable electric power.

Carter Tells
Greup Equalize
Assessments
DUBLIN — The equaliza
tion of property assessments
within counties is necessary to
insure fairness among ad va
lorem taxpayers, former State
Senator Jimmy Carter told a
barbecue rally here Tuesday
night.
Carter also endorsed a re
duction of the amount of pro
perty taxes now required to
finance education in order to
make those funds available to
local governments.
The Democratic candidate
for governor said his adminis
tration will seek to compen
sate for such property tax re
duction and the equalization of
the burden of local and state
taxes by a combination of tax
revisions and adjustments.
Carter said he will urge ad
ditional relief for low income
property taxpayers through in
come tax credits.

Hoboken
Post-Master
Announces
Ciean-Up Week
Postmaster Mike Dowling
today announced “Clean-up
Week” for the Hoboken Post
Office as part of a nation-wide
postal activity announced in
Washington by Postmaster
General Winton M. Blount.
The Postmaster General an
nounced the program Sunday
“to establish post offices as a
symbol of good housekeeping
and as a credit to every com
munity in the nation.”
Locally, Postmaster Dowling
said “Clean-up Week” will
focus on such matters as min
or repairs, obsolete records
disposal and general clean-up
in and around the facility.
“We are all concerned now
adays about the quality of the
environment,” he said, “and
the Post Office— as a repre
sentative of the Federal Gov
ernment — is always pleased
to conduct activities that are in
the best interests of the com
munities we serve.”
“Our Post Office is one of
the busiest and most visible ac
tivities in Hoboken and what
ever we can do to improve it
is of special value to our com
munity.”
The Postmaster pointed out
that, in addition to improved
appearance for postal facilities,
the national “clean-up Week”
is designed to provide practi j
cal values, removal of safety
and health hazards designed
to reduce accidents and illness,
and repairs wherever feasible.
Mr. Dowling noted that more
than 40,000 post offices, sta
tions and branches over the
nation are joining in the
“Clean-up Week” proclaimed
by the Postmaster General.
This includes the Post Office
Department Headquarters in
Washington, as well as the 15
regional offices across the
country.
The Postmaster General has
said, Postmaster Dowling not
ed, that while the most inten
sive effort will occur during
the designated week, he ex
pects post offices to .maintain
improvement programs as a
permanent activity “that will
give a new look to the postal
service for customers and em
ployees alike.”

conception that may arise, we the undeisigned make
the following announcement.
Beginning Aug. 1, 1970, Drs. Jordan, Drury, and

greed to for purly personal and individual considei
ations. For the present we will continue to occupy the

Because of the possible misinteipietation which
could arise from Dr. Drury’s candidacy foi the of
