Sahara:
inferno-hot/bittercold
It needs the electric heat pump.
A land of sandy, yellow heat. Blinding, wet cold. With
precious few perfect days. But in Georgia, too, there are
days to try the patience of a marabout.
Unless you have an electric heat pump and, with it,
a fresh, clean climate in your home year ’round. Just
one turn of the thermostat and the heat pump warms or
cools, automatically, as needed. Filters, too. And de
humidifies on muggy days.
The sands of time won’t soon run out on service for
your heat pump. Our economical service plan provides
all parts and all labor for 10 long years.
A dream of the desert is to be where birds sing and
springtime is forever. We can make the springtime part
come true. All year, with a flameless electric heat pump.

Priorities Outlined For
Veteran's Hospitalization
Atlanta — The continuous
flow of servicemen back into
civilian life is resulting in a
proportionately growing need
for space in veteran’s hospitals.
Pointing out that approximate
ly 24,000 veterans return to
Georgia each year. Georgia
Veterans Service Director Pete
Wheeler said, “It is under
standably necessary that cer
tain rules of eligibility be ob
served regarding admissions to
VA Hospitals. The first re
quirement, of course, is that
the applicant be a veteran with
a discharge from the .military
under conditions other than
dishonorable.”
Admittance to a VA hospital
is handled on a priority basis.
Veterans needing hospitaliza
tion because of injuries or
disease incurred in service
have top priority for admis
sion. Veterans in this category
must be provided hospital
space and in the event that
such space is not available in
a VA hospital, then the veter
an will be placed in a private
hospital at government ex
pense until space becomes a
vailable in a VA hospital.
The second priority group
includes veterans who were
discharged or retired for dis
ability incurred in service or
who are receiving compensa
tion, or would be eligible to
receive compensation, except
for receipt of retirement pay,
who need treatment for some
ailment, not connected with
their service. Veterans in this
category will be admitted as
beds are available.
A third priority group covers
veterans with service during
any war including Korea and
Viet Nam, (or veterans with
peace-time service awarded

the Medal of Honor) who were
not discharged or retired for
disability and who apply for
treatment of a non-service
connected disability. A veter
an faling under this category
will be admitted to a VA hos
pital if he meets the following
conditions: (1) hospitalization
is deemed necessary, (2) he
states under oath that he is
financially unable to defray
the cost of hospital charges el
sewhere, and (3) if space is
available.
Any veteran requiring e
mergency medical treatment
should be taken directly to
the nearest VA hospital. In
non-emergency cases a veter
an or a relative, acting on his
behalf, may file application
for hospital care. Or the veter
an may have his own physi
cian file the proper forms for
admission to a VA hospital.
There are four hospitals in
Georgia. One is loca^d in At
lanta. There are two in Augus
ta. And Dublin has one VA
hospital and also a domiciliary.
Combined, Georgia has a total
of 2,828 VA hospital and domi
ciliary beds.
Veterans needing informa
tion and assistance regarding
VA hospitalization should con
tact the Georgia Department
of Veterans Service.
